Many posts about this glitch - I haven't seen this in my shop yet, but in doing a bit of research on shops with listings affected, I've found the following -
* These listings show in shop search, as well as Etsy search - so they are not "deindexed" in the the usual sense.
*Once clicked on the thumbnail, it shows the error message "Sorry, this item is unavailable in your region"
* All the ones affected that I checked still show in the mobile Buyer App (the orange icon) - and you can click to view, add to cart, and (presumably) purchase.
* The glitch / bug applies to the mobile browser / desktop site - still shows "not available" when trying to view.
There doesn't seem to be anything Sellers can do, but if you happen to get a message from a Customer who intends to purchase, ask them to fave the item, and try viewing it on the mobile Buyer app.
Any other observations, comments from chat or support?
@KookiStudios Helpful!
But you sell earrings!!!
You're busting my theories here - which ones were they, and which fixed?
(So confused)
And now I'm flummoxed - I clicked on several of your earrings, and they were OK - but the platypus one still shows unavailable???
I tired this and it did not work. I changed the thumbnail and even uploaded a new image for the main photo and it still does not work.
This worked for me too. However, I do not see anything on my main image that should be flagged. This is still a mystery and Etsy should do better for us to fix this issue. If it is an AI issue, who knows what will come next? I sell funeral program templates. The time I am taking to fix this is time I could have spent resting or working on another file.
@MyOverstuffedAttic A UK customer contacted me today saying that my instant download patterns are not available in her region.
Reading this thread, it could be that the bot doesn't approve of my unclothed miniature cloth doll mannequins. Based only on the pictures, because I don't use any tags like nude or naked.
@KinktatsGB Thanks for testing this. The varied body shapes are something that my doll customers look for, so not showing the bodies in the thumbnail is a problem. I doubt many will click on an image of just the head and shoulders. Hopefully this situation will change.
In the meantime, I will figure something out with my photos.
@PrairieCrocusStudio Try using some colored opaque dots/starburst images or something similar on your thumbnail images to break up the outline of the body. Use a background color that is close to the color of the dolls, less contrast. Please let us know if that works
After removing the word "sexy" from a bathing suit listing, I changed the main picture on a bikini listing, putting a three quarter view picture instead of the usual front picture and it worked.
But this has to be fixed by Etsy!
This is ridiculous..These are adult bathing suits displayed on adult plastic mannequins, not children, not even real models!
I changed the main photo and even uploaded a new photos and still does not work. The only thing that seems to work for me is deleting the listing and adding a new listing. But I loose the reviews associated with the listing. This is super frustrating. I am sure Etsy will get back to me but it takes days of waiting. I added a note in my shop announcement that say I have a glitch contact me if you have trouble with my items. AHHHH
My listings that are affected do not work in app or the desktop. I wish they would just get chat up to speed. If I am forced to delete and add again I will loose the reviews associated. I have a pattern shop and this is a super bummer for me. It is so hard to get people to review because Etsy will not allow reviews until the end of the expected date. Another problem. Buyers should be able to review after the item is received and not have to wait weeks. AHHHH
Don't delete your listings, I'm sure it's going to be fixed by Etsy soon if you can't fix it yourself...it's going to hit so many sellers that they will have to fix their bot settings quickly...
Hiring humans would be a better idea, but I doubt this will happen!
For now maybe put a text as your main picture or try to blurry the main picture a little?! it might do the trick until it's fixed?
Im seeing unavailable in your region for most of my listing. This is very bad for business. A customer was complaining about it to me.
Definitely lost sales I’ve had buyers say not everything they wanted they could buy.
Me too. I love Etsy but they really need to help us in a much more timely fashion
All my swimwear items are having this problem. Checked after seeing a comment about body shapes in the images. Smfh...
One of my photos is Barbie & Ken in Swimsuits, another is called movie date & third is Barbie in lingerie? No swimsuits cannot image what it is. So frustrating. It seems many people have this issue. I wasn't even aware until someone contacted me. Why is this still happening. It seems this issue dates back a bit. Yikes.
Don't think that is the issue. I have a listing called movie date same issue. I have three listings affected so far. I deleted one and added it as a new listing. It is OK for now. The other two have reviews associated and I have a pattern website. I will loose these review if I delete them. I think I will add a new listing and keep my old listing to see if Etsy can resolve without deleting my item entirely, Etsy Please help us in a much more timely fashion
There are swim suits in the Blue Hawaii movie poster in your Movie Date .
I'm guessing the bots were set to catch the wrong thing.
@FashionDollPhotos There are numerous "unavailable in your region" glitches that have happened as well as recent child product restrictions as well as some time ago tinkering with new "adult" keyword restrictions (having certain adult words meant only showing up in search when the specific word was included in the search and filtered out of search completely if not including the/an adult word triggering the search to return regular "and" adult results"). This seems to be a new issue affecting listings that may have been affected by the previous issues. I already fixed these listings from past issues (removed naught words) but I can't do anything about photos of bikinis not being allowed other than figure out somewhere else to sell them. 140,000 bikini listings and anyone searching for that sexy bikini top for halloween is gonna have to search another website. Great timing during the last little surge of swimwear hits before halloween (i usually sell more for halloween than just for summer, but they been dead ever since "fixing" them last time).
Also lingerie 250,000 results, first click "unavailable". Just two quick searches and hundreds of thousands of likely unavailable results. So i'd say millions of listings are probably affected.
Although a search for pasties first photo show more than a bikini does, i can clearly see some nipple, and the listing opens just fine. The top does however go between their cleavage so there is no cleavage to detect by the bot. A topless mannequin with visible nipple piercings works fine. A listing that clearly shows breasts with nipple piercings works fine for a heart outline pastie that doesn't cover anything (every photo in the listing shows bare breasts, cleavage and nipples). Pretty much no nipple pasties have been affected while showing "more" than any of the bikini listings affected (about 40 in a row no problem until a couple leather pasties with metallic elements like chains, rings, seemed to be the only ones restricted).
My listings will not work in the App or desktop. I just sold one of them a few days ago, but I am not sure when this issue started.
I tried to replace the main photo and even upload a new photo and it still does not work. Maybe the wording. I will try that next. What a mess
For some listings that I'm trying to fix in my dad's shop, changing the main pictures worked, for others removing "sexy" in the description worked.
What I don't understand is why some swimsuits with identical shapes, displayed on the same mannequin are still available when others are not....
I even managed to put back the original picture from a listing after using the third one as the main picture, and now it works!
It doesn't make any sense...
Changing my photo order/main photo didn't work. Some of mine only have 3 photos and they're all bikini shots. Can get into edit listing but can't view the actual listing still. There shouldn't be any naughty words affecting "this" issue (but those do affect indexing and not showing up unless using that word in search, which is a separate issue) and i previously already removed them and listings still unavailable.
