New Listing Tool

Has anyone who is experiencing the problem of not being allowed to create, copy or edit listings had success with getting it to work?  I did contact Etsy.  Afterwards the tool worked for one day.  But I am now unable to use it again.  

For reference, I have updated my programs, used different devices and tried different browsers.  In addition there have been several Etsy shop owners reporting the same problem.  So this is not an issue that can be resolved on my end.  It is an Etsy program glitch.  

I've very nervous that I will no longer be able to publish any new works once Etsy retires the older listing tool.  I'm hoping others with this problem have had more success.

I think, back then, it was a size 8 K-Swiss that worked for me.

Yes, IrmaKdesigns, I am having the same issue.  I contacted etsy and they said they are sending the issue to engineering to look at.  Meanwhile, I cannot renew any of my listings that have sold out.

Oh for cripe sake. I just saw your latest Update Nancy, re: the New Listing Tool again not functioning for you. I'm so sorry. Also for JanetsCrafts and irmaKdesigns (by seeing their above posts).  Honestly, this makes no sense. If you cannot perform the most basic of functions on this New Listing Tool (which Etsy has decided to replace a perfectly functioning user friendly Old Format Listing Tool), you cannot list and/or sell. 

Who would be a good Admin to "at," right here in this Thread? Admin ampersay has not been in Tech. Issues (that I can see; please correct me if wrong).  What about Admin FidosFlowers, who made the Announcement about the New Listing Tool (I know she doesn't address Community Forum issues). But she did say this "exciting New Tool is 3x faster". The deadline is ticking for the Old Listing Form to be trashed, yet there are major problems with this New Tool. And that's deplorable.

@NancyQstudio  Nancy, I'm not seeing activity from Admin ampersay within Tech. Issues. Not sure if she's still in charge of this section. I know Admin thatregina is a Community Forum Admin, but in February, she posted a Thread in Tech. Issues (re: the Community Forum). I'm going to try to "at" her for you. You guys need help with a non functioning Listing Tool.

@thatregina  Can you please assist Nancy and other Sellers who are having this issue. If you can't, can you direct this to someone who can assist. Thank You in advance.

@ChillwolfArt It's working for me again.  Hopefully this time I have access for more than a few hours.  This means they are still working on it which I'm very thankful for.  And thank you so much for all of your help and support!  I just love this community.  It's rare.

totally agree, the old form was super easy to use, you cold see everything that you were putting in, no hidden panels to click open. 

WHY, oh Why will Etsy not listen to the sellers. KEEP THE OLD LISTING FORM.

And stop hiring 20 year olds who are trying to make their mark in programming by messing with a perfectly good listing form

I personally do not care for the new listing form. It seems awkward to me. Maybe it will be better once I get used to it.

When I use it to list an new item, I do not see how to link photos with colors. If it is there, I am not seeing it. I have been listing and then going back and editing with the old form.  I do wish they would leave well enough alone.

Click on Manage variations, then on the pencil inside the box up top with the options in it. A page will open showing each option with a Select photo button to the right. I hope this helps.

The new listing format worked for me today.  I duplicate an existing listing and make changes.  It took me a long time to do my listing, as I wasn't familiar with anything.  I hope I can continue to use it.  One thing I noticed is my shipping price doesn't show.

but in the old listing form you didn't have to open anything up, it was all laid out easy peasy, I swear Etsy said "let's mess with the listing form to make  it ten times longer to list!

Glad to know I'm not the only one.  Last time when I had a problem with renewing my sold out listing (last confirming window says the inventory is 0 and even after I put new number of 1, it won't let me to renew and the error says contact Etsy which I did, and was told to use the old listing tool.  It worked but knowing the old version is retiring, I feel so uneasy about the future when we can't go back to the old way...)

Today, when I try to renew deactivated item, the first one went OK but not the next one.  Only the difference I could think of was the one was (I didn't know but I figured out later) the first one was expired while it was deactivated and went as renewed, and the latter one simply didn't let me turn back to activate and there was an error and the contact Etsy message...

Also when I try to renew sold out item, it says contact Etsy too...

I really hope all the unstableness of the new listing will be solved by the time when the old one is gone...

I am having the same issue.  When I try to renew a sold out item, I get an error message. I reported this to etsy, but no help yet.

ugh.. getting so frustrated with this new listing crap!! Keep putting my listings up twice... 

and half the time when I say what section in my shop to put it in , it automatically picks no section.. 

Honestly there must be something in it for Etsy with this new listing tool, coz no one is actually truly happy for it and if they are they a very tiny amount of people.. 

What a concept it would be for Etsy to actually listen to the Sellers, it takes longer to use this new crap!

Here's a crazy idea Etsy... You have both listing types already running, how about keeping it that way and let us shop owner decide what works better for us!!

First day I've had problems creating listings....ugh. What an aggravation! Keeps asking about renewal options and quantity, but I've already done those.

@NancyQstudio:  How often do you all empty your cache?  When your cache gets too full (on your computer and phone), it can result in glitches on Etsy and other sites.  If my memory serves correctly, it's because your computer is referring to old pages.  Therefore, whenever a glitch on Etsy occurs, the first thing I do is clear the cache on my computer AND Firefox.  Then I close my browser, restart my computer, and then go through the log in verification (clicking on pages of fire hydrants, etc.) to get back on Etsy.  Next, I try what didn't work before to see if it's now been fixed. 

How to clear your cache in Firefox on an IMac:

Click on Firefox, Preferences, Privacy and Security.

Scroll down and click on Manage Data on the right.  If it's grayed out, click on Manage Exceptions, Save Changes (even though you've not made any), and then wait for Manage Data to no longer be grayed out.  It can take around 10 seconds to a few minutes for this to occur.

Click twice on Last Used so it sorts it by the latest first.

Either click on Remove All or click on individual sites under the Site column and then click on Remove Selected.

Click Save Changes.

How to clear the cache on an IMac:

Click on History, Clear History.

Make sure that Cookies and Cache are checked.

Click Clear Now.

Now shut down your browser, restart your browser, log into Etsy, and see if you can create or edit a listing.

If it hasn't worked, I recommend saving this forum post for reference anyway because it will fix many of Etsy's glitches.  I also recommend clearing your cache at least every week.  On my phone, I have to do it daily because one of my apps freezes daily otherwise.

@StitchRoundabout Thank you so much.  I greatly appreciate this.  I do clean out my cache once a week.  I also do daily scan cleanings.  I agree, this is very important and helpful.  

Unfortunately, it didn't make a difference with this problem.

I can definitely say that it's not my end, cache, history and cookies are good! Actually all 3 of my children are program designers and the one that is home today actually came in my office to look at the old and new and was reading through the forum and her option is Etsy is trying to keep things new and revolutionary, despite having problems. the problem they will work through them. But it was also her option that Etsy should not have put a expiration date on the old system because it works and till all glitches are gone from the new format they definitely should be giving shop owners the choice, since they have both running on the platform already!

I strongly agree to this!

It's great that Etsy is trying something new to help us, but the reality is because of this and the fear of this retirement of the old listing, I'm wasting so much time...

I doubted myself first what it comes to IT but when the answer from the Etsy after sending the screen shot is "please use the old listing", and the problem is still here even I recently changed my PC to the latest one...

I really hope Etsy will keep the old listing until the problem is no longer seen every day and everywhere...
