Has anyone who is experiencing the problem of not being allowed to create, copy or edit listings had success with getting it to work? I did contact Etsy. Afterwards the tool worked for one day. But I am now unable to use it again.
For reference, I have updated my programs, used different devices and tried different browsers. In addition there have been several Etsy shop owners reporting the same problem. So this is not an issue that can be resolved on my end. It is an Etsy program glitch.
I've very nervous that I will no longer be able to publish any new works once Etsy retires the older listing tool. I'm hoping others with this problem have had more success.
Positive Update:
I've just been able to list and edit an item with the new listing tool when accessing it through the Listings Tab in my Shop Manager. This just started working for me and hopefully it keeps working this time.
However, I can no longer pull up a listing from my shop to edit or copy a listing. This function only works with the older listing tool. As long as I have the ability to use the new listing tool this isn't a problem. But I did want to mention it as I've been trying to get access to it using both options (Listing Manager & going through my shop listings). And because I'm hoping this will help others who are experiencing the same problem.
Newest Update: It is not working again.
I was so happy the new listing tool started working for me last night. I was able to publish some new listings with it. I actually like it.....When it works. But, it's useless when it doesn't. Today I'm unable to utilize the tool from my Shop Manager Listings area or directly from my shop. I get error codes and the only options I have is to stay on the page without allowing to save or leave the page.
I can definitely say that it's not my end, cache, history and cookies are good! Actually all 3 of my children are program designers and the one that is home today actually came in my office to look at the old and new and was reading through the forum and her option is Etsy is trying to keep things new and revolutionary, despite having problems. the problem they will work through them. But it was also her option that Etsy should not have put a expiration date on the old system because it works and till all glitches are gone from the new format they definitely should be giving shop owners the choice, since they have both running on the platform already!
Etsy chat has shared the engineers are now aware of this technical problem which many of us are having. They are working on a resolve which was so nice to hear. I hope sharing this helps others as it did me.
I wanted to follow up on this thread and close it. The new listing tool is working for me now. Thank you Etsy!
I have to admit I haven't even tried yet. In the past I couldn't even edit Variations so I gave up and haven't gone back.
@UppNorthEh I hope it works for you now. Etsy has been making updates to it so it's a possibility. This tool is rolling out as the only option for us very soon. I'm realizing I might not be able to use Etsy due to this error. So I am hoping someone here has found a work around or received help solving the issue from Etsy which they can share.
I 100% CAN NOT list anything in my shop. Ongoing issue for several weeks now. I am flabbergasted. And think this might be the tipping point for me on this platform. I would hate to leave. Been here for yearssss. But this is ridiculous!!
I almost exclusively use the new listing tool and have had no issues with creating, copying or editing. I use Google Chrome for whatever that's worth.
@BeJeweledByDEBORAH Thank you. I've tried Google Chrome and I still couldn't get it to work. I'm currently using the newest Safari version. I appreciate you sharing your experience.
I have had luck still accessing the old listing format when editing the listing from my shopfront. But not from my listing manager page (new listing format only, ugh)
for now, knock on wood.
in chrome & firefox.
if that helps the other old listing format diehards
@LastCentury Thank you. I still have access to the old listing format which is how I'm still able to create and edit listings.
It is perfectly clear to me.
Etsy simply does not want us listing things to sell on their site.
What else could it be?
@OneEyeCatStudio Maybe it will help with thinning out the herd? ....... But seriously, it becoming more than just a bit concerning.
So only after contacting Etsy, were you then able to perform functions with the New Listing Tool, which you were not able to perform prior to contacting Etsy (utilizing different browsers, devices, et.). Basic functions we all need in order to list and sell. Since it worked after you contacted Etsy and not before, it is definitely an Etsy problem. Yet it only worked for a day. How absurd. An exciting Tool which is 3x faster than the Old Listing Form. Yet you (and others experiencing the same problem) cannot perform the very basic functions which we all need as Sellers. And that's bull.
I wonder if "atting" an Admin would be helpful here. You can't be left out in the cold because Etsy decides they are going to do away with a fully functional listing tool, replace it with one which doesn't even come close to the one they are discontinuing. Yet you and others can't even create, copy, or edit a listing? Your hands are tied. This just ticks me off.
@ChillwolfArt Thank you. I spoke with Chat support and they reported the problem for me to the team working on the problem. I also filled out the survey. A day later I was able to use the tool for a short while. Now, I'm experiencing the same problem. Honestly, I'm feeling rather frustrated at this point.
@NancyQstudio So they were able to fix the problem for one day, which tells us the problem is on their end (rather than on the end of the Sellers having the problem). And the team working on the problem is ridiculous really. When you have an efficient, user friendly tool which will be eliminated on June 25 (which is coming up rapidly). And there are still glitches with the New Listing Tool. The problems should have been worked out BEFORE D-Day.
When I have used the new tool it has been on my mobile browser when I've had to update quantity when I'm sewing and not near my computer.
I used to have trouble publishing after updating the quantity, then ended up switching to the old version.
I eventually found out I needed to change the quantity and then click on to something else to be able to publish. It's like it wouldn't register the edit until I clicked on something else.
Hope this helps.
@SmudgePlant Thanks so much. I really appreciate your help. I did this. Unfortunately it didn't work for me with the new listing tool. I tried changing several other areas as well to see if that would reset it. Hopefully it starts working with my items before the older listing tool is retired.
Editing.......It just started working for me. I'm so relieved. I didn't have to do anything so this appears to be an intermittent problem at the moment.
I was able to use it for the first time today and it is clumsy and not better than the previous form. But a glaring omission for me is that one cannot assign specific photos to different variations on this form. If someone else is able to do this, can you please point me to where this feature is located?
Click on Manage variations, then on the pencil inside the box up top with the options in it.
A page will open showing each option with a Select photo button to the right.
Self deleting. @DaysofYoreTreasures answered the question. Thank you! This was very helpful.

@DaysofYoreTreasures Thank you so much! Found it.
@botanicallampshades @NancyQstudio
You are very welcome. I needed another seller's help working out these variations...
You can also rearrange using click & drag by clicking on the little horizontal lines to the left of each option.
I cannot find a way to edit the individual option names though.
I’ve kept going back to the old listing tool which I find much easier to use. I haven’t tried seeing whether I can duplicate a listing so that I can make use of some of the similar info for a new listing. I will be very unhappy if that’s the case. Will try with a new listing today to see what happens.
@NancyQstudio Very glad to hear this, Nancy.
I was having similar problems until I updated Chrome to the latest version and restarted. Been working smoothly since.
