SHOP SUSPENDED/TAX ID

So tired of not being able to get our shop open due to Etsy asking us to update our taxes. We have entered ALL of the information and no one is there to help or to RE OPEN our shop!! Its driving us crazy as we are missing out on potential sales. No one usually replies to your email until 2-3  days later. Every time Ive chatted or emailed with someone they just say they arent sure how long it will take to get this fixed but "someone is working on it". No. Its been over two weeks now and I've seen all of the discussion boards on here about this issue and it seems like a huge problem that Etsy needs to fix because they are making their sellers upset. THE PEOPLE WHO THEY MAKE MONEY FROM. It makes no sense, Like come on, someone figure this out please so we can help each other out!!

PLEASE #ETSY fix this problem. We have been selling for almost 3 years on your platform and this is our main source of income. If they have all of the legal documents then they should be able to update them so they are correct for their platform. WE NEED HELP ASAP!!!! PLEASE!

I tried this.  I spoke with someone in financial and they told me they could not help me, that is was a software glitch and that all of my current info was verified and correct.  I can't update it again as the boxed are grey frozen.  So frustrating!

Mine is suspended and I just made my first ever listing (which isn't showing up) because of tax id as well. EVERYTHING IS RIGHT on the form.

How is it fair that they take a listing fee out of my account when im suspended and no one can see the listing? From everything I've read in this forum, I don't think this is the platform for me. Very very frustrating and not worth it. Super glad I found this out before having been here awhile.

Unfortunately I on the same boat. My account was suspended Sunday, It's been 72 hours multiple interactions with support no solution. I don't know what to do to have my shop back!!!!

Try this - way better than the email support option. This is what I had to do to fix my problem:

I’m new to Etsy and as I was setting up my shop it was suspended over the tax thing too. I fixed my mistake and resubmitted and I’m stuck in a limbo. Received a generic email back from support. Feels highly unprofessional honestly. I’m reconsidering selling on here.

Just spoke with support over the phone and was told this is a technical issue on their end and they cannot give me a timeframe when it will be fixed. I just have to have my shop suspended indefinitely. She said she’d escalate this to technical support. Feels very unfair.

This just happened to my account today. Sad thing was my tax ID information was on my account a few days ago. I just hit my $500 after a sale today and all the sudden my information is gone and my account is suspended

My shop has been down for 6 WEEKS! I have been selling on ETSY since 2014, so they have had my tax info for years! 

Whatever changes you made in your programming, you should be able to reverse. Not only that, but you should have a separate server that is used for testing BEFORE rolling out the real deal.

Going through this same problem and my shop is totally down during the height of Mother's day shopping season....time to focus on Shopify and stop this charade of "community that cares".  LITERALLY NO ONE at Etsy cares if your shop is down and you can't earn money...you can barely contact anyone for help!

Chances are the ball is in the IRS's court, especially with tax season. I imagine the IRS will be less overwhelmed after the 18th. Probably won't solve the problem, but potentially prevent further delays: "You can contact the IRS to confirm your correct taxpayer information."

Called Etsy about this again today and got no help. He said he’d have technical support email me and I haven’t received anything. I’m new to Etsy and this is my first store. What a horrible experience. I can’t even use this site cause they won’t fix their technical issues.

Something noone's answered for me after several days. If my social security card includes my middle name, do I put that in the Etsy tax info?

Whatever name you put on your taxes, you should put.

I am having the same issue, day 16 now.  I see you got your shop reopened!   Congrats, how did it happen?  They told me it was a software issue and they could not do anything but wait, but had no idea when it would be fixed.  Any help much appreciated!

Thanks, I have used call option at least 4 times over past 2 weeks.   They can't fix it, and say it is a software problem, and that it is affected many other shops.

They told me the same thing! I feel bad complaining compared to all of you because its only been a few hours for me but..im scared ill be waiting up to 3 weeks like most of you!

How does Etsy stay in business acting like this? Not to mention, taking money for listing fees for a shop that has been suspended, due to their own incompetence! Then email me and in so many words, say "Sorry, we don't know when it'll be fixed 🤷‍" I mean, come on.

I was looking forward to having a shop here, but I don't trust them. This is not a platform I can have any kind of confidence in. I see lawsuits in their Future. I think the whole Silicon Valley collapse might have something to do with what's going on, but who knows.
