So tired of not being able to get our shop open due to Etsy asking us to update our taxes. We have entered ALL of the information and no one is there to help or to RE OPEN our shop!! Its driving us crazy as we are missing out on potential sales. No one usually replies to your email until 2-3 days later. Every time Ive chatted or emailed with someone they just say they arent sure how long it will take to get this fixed but "someone is working on it". No. Its been over two weeks now and I've seen all of the discussion boards on here about this issue and it seems like a huge problem that Etsy needs to fix because they are making their sellers upset. THE PEOPLE WHO THEY MAKE MONEY FROM. It makes no sense, Like come on, someone figure this out please so we can help each other out!!
PLEASE #ETSY fix this problem. We have been selling for almost 3 years on your platform and this is our main source of income. If they have all of the legal documents then they should be able to update them so they are correct for their platform. WE NEED HELP ASAP!!!! PLEASE!
I'm in the same boat. I've been waiting 8 days to hear back from etsy.
I just received this E mail after sending in yet another inquiry about my shop being on suspension:
"Hi Susan!
Hope this email finds you well! I am Deepshikha, an Etsy support specialist. Since my colleague is currently unavailable, I will be taking over to assist you with your query.
I'd like to take this opportunity first to apologise for the delayed reply. At this time, we're experiencing a high request volume, so we haven't been able to get back to you in a timely manner.
As mentioned by my colleague in the previous email, we'd get back to you as soon as we will be able to verify your taxpayer details. Additionally, once our system successfully verifies your taxpayer information with the IRS, the temporary suspension on your shop will be lifted automatically.
I hope this information helps. If there's anything else that we can help you with, please feel free to reach out - my team and I would be more than happy to help. Wishing you and your shop all the best. Have a great day!

I just thought I'd share this with all of you today. I fail to understand how it can take so long to verify the information with the IRS.
Update in my case. I receive this email;
We’re writing to inform you that after careful review, your Etsy account has been permanently suspended for violating Etsy’s Terms of Use.
Here’s what permanent account suspension means:
We’re unable to continue discussing your account status unless you respond to this email appealing this decision.
I am devastated, and confused. There was never an email informing me about any wrong doing on my part. No warning.
I am willing to obey any rules. I sell hand drawn designs, and Christian Quotes. What could be wrong about those?
I hope your shop is in a better place than two shops of mine.

Oh mann.. I'm so sorry. I really feel for you. Almost feels like we're under attack.
I've been suspended for 2 weeks today. Same issue Tax ID.. At this point I'm hanging on by a thread.. It's the most frustrating thing.

It makes no sense at all. I am so sorry about the permanent suspension information. I would definitely appeal, since they indicate that we can only appeal a permanent suspension, not a temporary one.

This is so wrong what they are doing to us. There should be some kind of recourse we can take due to them taking away our income.
In the same boat - Tax ID info was provided and then they suspended my account. I was told there is a problem with the engineering department and they do not know how long it will be for a resolution. Beyond frustrated and discouraged over this!
Same here. I did what was asked of me regarding taxpayer information. Account suspended without an email or explanation. All I hear are crickets.

Yes same problem. It’s frustrating. The day I hit 400 sales, my shop was suspended.

did it just get reinstated automatically? I am on day 16 frozen. They keep telling me it is a software glitch and that all of mil information is verified. They said they had no idea when it would be fixed, but when it was solved my shop would automatically be reinstated. So frustrating!
Been suspended for 2 days, TAX ID issue, support is a joke, they are just sending me the help section on the etsy web site. Fingers crossed, I updated my tax info a few times, hope I didn't cause a glitch in their system
I know what you mean. I tried so many different variations of my name, Tax ID, and SSN I thought for sure I'd done something.
My shop opened back up the same day many others opened back up so I knew it wasn't me and had to be a glitch in the system.
Hang in there.. hoping for a really quick resolution. We can absolutely relate to what you're dealing with.
@OutbackDesignCo Listen, if you haven't already done so, Respond directly to the unhelpful, generic Email, "I still need help". Don't start another Ticket, as this will push you back further in line.

I am having this same issue right now where you can't update it. Their chat team doesn't know when it will be resolved. Isn't that convenient?
Got a resolution this morning, requested a call back, and the Finance Team resolved my issue really quickly! Found this on another thread!
This is what I had to do to fix my problem:
Enter your number for Etsy call back, they called me in 10 seconds and fixed my listings. They were in a "frozen" state after entering my Tax ID info.
