SHOP SUSPENDED/TAX ID

So tired of not being able to get our shop open due to Etsy asking us to update our taxes. We have entered ALL of the information and no one is there to help or to RE OPEN our shop!! Its driving us crazy as we are missing out on potential sales. No one usually replies to your email until 2-3  days later. Every time Ive chatted or emailed with someone they just say they arent sure how long it will take to get this fixed but "someone is working on it". No. Its been over two weeks now and I've seen all of the discussion boards on here about this issue and it seems like a huge problem that Etsy needs to fix because they are making their sellers upset. THE PEOPLE WHO THEY MAKE MONEY FROM. It makes no sense, Like come on, someone figure this out please so we can help each other out!!

PLEASE #ETSY fix this problem. We have been selling for almost 3 years on your platform and this is our main source of income. If they have all of the legal documents then they should be able to update them so they are correct for their platform. WE NEED HELP ASAP!!!! PLEASE!

Thanks for sharing your problem.  I have been selling on Etsy since 2015.   What is going on his a huge disappointment.   With no good way to communicate with these people, we are at their mercy on this.  My concern is if this will happen again.

I am really worried  that someone has hacked to our accounts, and they don't know what to do. I have never worked for a company that had a "technical issue" for 3 weeks. This doesn't make sense. Something big is happening, and we have a right to know. In the mean time we are loosing sales, possibly star badges. They also are charging for all the postings that they don't even show.

I agree with your theory.  With regard to the listing fee, I am concerned that they will re-charge for every listing they reactivate.

@NorasDivineCreations if you want to check who has logged into your account recently go and check your security log - it's under your user account settings rather than the shop. Be aware however that the location shown is often that of your internet provider/hub and not necessarily your own home so it might be in the next town.

@LILLYPOPSSTUDIO   Etsy will simply reactivate.  No charge.

Unless your state requires you to have a license or certificate, you can always enter the EIN or SSN and single proprietorship.

@NorasDivineCreations    I have.  It's not that easy to fix some issues especially when you are dealing across international borders and have to deal with issues globally.  

As to being hacked, rather doubtful. 

Usually the problems are the names don't match across the bank, state, and IRS for in the US.

I checked my security log. Nothing suspicious there.  All log-ins  were from my devices.

I have had a gut reaction about what is going on, and I closed my shop for now.  I guess I don't trust any of my information being available on line with them at this time.

I found out that you cannot reaccess a closed account to be able to re-open it again until you are unsuspended. Just letting everyone know who still wants to access their messages

Interestingly, it took all of 1 minute for Etsy to send an email confirming that I had closed my account.  Best wishes to everyone.

I will continue to check in here to find out if and when your shops are unsuspended.

I experimented and tried to log back in and was prohibited from doing so.

I decided to try again and got in and now can see my shop. I have one order out for delivery and wanted to be available to the customer.  I got an e mail telling me to delete my tax id and re-enter which I did.  Once they verify with the IRS, the shop should unsuspended and that this is not done "manually" but by other means. Crossing my fingers but still not too hopeful. It isn't enough to know they received the updated tax information, it seems.  It is all about when they verify with the IRS.

Thank you for this update. All I wanted them is to let us know why it takes so long… it does make sense now. However it is not fair that we have to wait, and not know what is going on, and why.

I am having the same issue with temporary suspension because of the Tax ID info, which I have already sent in. It's very frustrating when they won't even issue payouts for orders that were being processed before the suspension. Does anyone have any ideas on what we can do about this?

I wish I know how. I called them daily, they put me on hold for 30 minute until I gave up. They keep telling me that it's a finance that can unblock me, then it's a technical support. Very frustrating when you have customers emailing you, and you look like an unprofessional seller. I wish they tell me the truth maybe I would understand. I am thinking about closing my shop... and moving my business elsewhere. 

Some people already waiting 4 weeks.

Well, folks, today I got an e mail from a customer I issued a refund to.  Etsy indicated a full refund on the receipt and I sent her a copy of that.  The amount was immediately taken from my checking account. Now she sent me a message asking where her refund is. I told her to contact support@etsy.com.  I told her Etsy had banking issues right at the time her refund was being issued. Even if they unsuspend my shop, how can I ever trust Etsy again with funds transfers?

Omg! So sorry to hear that. I was thinking about closing the shop, and move all the listings to a new one, but what if next year I will go trough the same thing.

Definitely have customers to understand that it is all ETSY not you. Have ten call, and experience what we have to go trough, maybe then they will be more transparent.

So I figured they will never open this old shop, and I opened a new one. I started moving all of my listings. This new shop worked  for 5 days when they froze it!!!

In my finance section is says to add a security code that they sent with a small deposit amount, except they never sent any "test deposit". Now I have two dozen shops, and nobody want's to help. They customer service is USLESS!

I am looking for a different platform, it sucks. I am looking for a lower now. Going to sue them for all lost fees. Since they are taking my money but don't even shop my listings.

Tired is an understatement, it's exhausting! I'm beginning to wonder if this has anything to do with the "new and improved" listing page etsy is unrolling. So much effort on that project we'll end up with our deactivated listings and/or shops in limbo forever. Management seems non-existent with most unfinished "tests" unfinished, not to mention no communication, missing promised emails explaining WHY or what to do.  If they want us to self-manage then get out of the way, if you want us to go away in frustration ignore us like you already do, just own it already.  Churn, churn, churn...

How did you get your shop back open?  Did it just unfreeze one day?  That is what they told me would happen. But it has been over 3 weeks.  I have the exact issue as you did.   Thanks!  Glad you are back open!

If and when they restore our shops, how can we be confident they won't suspend us again for no reason, leaving us with outstanding orders and payments?  Has anyone tried to file an appeal? It says in Etsy Help that the appeal process is for permanent suspension. Well, we might as well consider ourselves as being in permanent suspension as long as this is taking to be resolved.   Has anyone tried this?

I just closed my shop for now.  Hopefully my tax information will be safe. All that hard work doing listings since 2015 .... all that product creation... It is deplorable what is going on.  They could reinstate us as quickly as they suspended us IF THEY WANT TO!  I fail to believe they don't have the capacity to fix this!

It took a total of 30 seconds to hear back from Etsy that they successfully closed my shop. How amazing. And, they are incapable of unsuspending our shops?????
