Is anyone else seeing their Shop Announcement cut off?

I can only see the first 2 lines fully, the third is sliced in half and there's no 'read more' to click.  It's the same with any shop I view while on both Chrome and Edge.

Well it's about time. I see announcements that are longer than War & Peace. An announcement shouldn't be more than a line or 2 (no plurals in definition either). It's a statement to welcome and add a bit of current info. It's not a place for FAQs or nasty remarks (about Etsy) or politics or to divert traffic to another site. 

Yes, most of you will disagree but seriously, it's an ANNOUNCEMENT.

@FallsAveVintage Thanks for this insight. I had to read nearly 4 pages before someone contributed exactly what I wanted to say.

Over the years I have seen "Announcements" which are just "FAQ's" in disguise and also "Shop Policies", which are not Shop Policies at all, just a list of things the Seller does not accept, despite the fact that these "exceptions" are not things which would hold any water in the event of a dispute.

Even more annoyingly, I have seen "Announcements" which use the prominent placement to write a long diatribe about what Etsy has done wrong.

So, contrary to the tide of opinion here, I am with you in saying "About time...."

Keep Announcements short, current, to the point and informative, 

Actually, I have just realized that, without really knowing it, I have been evaluating the activity in Shops (ie "Seller involvement") by the date the "Announcement" was last updated. I havelost count of the number of times I have seen "Last updated 2015"

@CarpetCollectionAU Me too! Nothing worse than seeing an announcement that still mentions the pandemic.

I just changed mine around today to keep the date current. Had to add the de minimis statement thanks to Trump but it's always pretty much the same otherwise.

Now, when did Standalone Pay Pal disappear? 2016? 2017?

@audreytherese and @Natalya1905 Thank-you, but I was specifically referring to a Shop using "Announcement" to complain about the forced move to Etsy Payments which removed "stand-alone" Pay Pal. The context of my post was related to outdated Announcements and the use of "Announcements" to "complain and run". The Announcement was over 7 years old and had never been updated / changed.

I am perfectly aware of the fact that "integrated" Pay Pal is currently an issue for some European (and other) Shops, that Pay Pal was "grandfathered" for other Shops and is still availbale for some Shops where Etsy Payments are not supported. And I acknowledge the fact that there are currently issues preventing Shops permitted to use "stand-alone" Pay Pal from actually reveiving money.

However, the Announcement I was citing was an outdated complaint from the time "stand-alone" Pay Pal became unavailable for many Shops. I was commenting on a redundant "Announcement" (and the misuse of "Announcements" in general) Pay Pal was simply the subject.

@CarpetCollectionAU  That's funny and probably a record. I recently saw a 5yr old announcement in a shop with 6 digit sales. Guess they're too busy. Wish I was that busy!

Mine is short so not cut off.  I don't read long announcements.

I think someone in programming removed the see more indicator.  Not surprising.

@ArtDollsbyJD No one does. Same with lengthy descriptions. We have to train ourselves to work with mobile. Most traffic comes from phones these days and lengthy anything isn't a good approach.

There are sections for everything - FAQs/Policies, About info, general product info, etc. An announcement needs to be easily and quickly read/scanned.

Sellers will argue that people don't read those sections but I'd argue they don't make it past the first 1-2 sentences in an announcement (or descriptions) either.

If they want it limited, then they should put a character limit on the space.

Me too. I wonder how much is read and if my clients can actually find things. Hell, I have problems finding things and I am on here daily for years now. I have many facts and such now listed on the announcement page, the about section, and the policy section. This seems to have helped. It is also good when someone sends a message with a question. I can usually cut and paste the response with a nice personal greeting.

Yes chopped off. It is akin to a mall owner just going by and slicing shops signs in half willy nilly! I mean if you are only going to allow short ones, at least give a heads up before Freddy Krueger-ing/ Edward Scissorhands-ing them.

Yes, Me too. I can go to edit and view my announcements, but then the same thing happens when I press the save button. I can only see the first line and half of the second line of words that is cut in half. I am unable to scroll down. I checked this on 3 different browsers, my iPad, desk top… all the same problem. This is day 3 of my trying to fix it. I use my announcement page as a monthly news letter with also many facts and questions about my shop. I have also listed many of the same facts and policies on my about page and under the actual policies sections. However, there is much more info under the announcements. There seems to be a a continuous growing problem with technical issues. I wish they would leave good alone!

Yup. Etsy broke the code doing some maintenance likely, lol. It'll get corrected probs.

I can understand Etsy perhaps not wanting the Announcement to be lengthy, but to show only TWO lines, and cut it off after, is a bit much. That part doesn't make a lot of sense to me. And it doesn't even give you the option to "See more".

I don't have anything too important currently in my Announcement, and when I do, I always put it "above the fold", so to speak. But if they are going to limit what shows in our Announcements, then they should limit what we can put in our Announcements.  And they should give us a heads up.

But this could just be a glitch.  Or a test.
