Hello, I find many sellers with same issue , the buyers can't use paypal as payment options!
Why support team didn't fix it or help us!
This issue seems to be affecting many new shops in Europe. Have you contacted Etsy support to let them know?
Yes, I contacted support a couple of times via live chat. They told me the issue is on their end and the team is working on fixing it, but they couldn’t provide an estimated time for the resolution.
This has been affecting many new shops in some EU countries.
It has been going on at least 6 months, so I doubt it is a bug.
It is more likely to be a stall in negotiations between Etsy and paypal for certain countries
As you sell worldwide, I wouldn't worry too much, as I rarely get a paypal sale
You could try contacting both Etsy and paypal, to see if you can spur them to action
you can't imagine how many people asking about Paypal and they can't paid because it!
I have more than 60 orders cancel because Paypal!
I would agree with this that there is some sort of stall between Etsy and PayPal in adding PayPal to Etsy payments.
@Artiblissco Are you sure about the cancelations because we don't see that end of it. Unless a buyer contacts you about it, we have no way of knowing what they use for a sale.
You can't get a cancelled order because of paypal,
if there is an order that is cancelled, and your shop doesn't accept paypal, they are paying a different way first
No, the customers are asking in messages. I have more than 50 customers who want to pay with PayPal.
Why don't the customers just pay with their cards?
more likely spammers with such a new shop
no way, with 38 sales, that you have another 60+ people who want to order enough to contact you, and also who refuse to pay with a card
@CraftyCornishMaids okay i am liar no problem, Thanks
you haven't had 60 orders cancelled,
to do that, they would have had to actually have paid by card in the first place
I don't think you are lying,
I think you don't understand how etsy works.
I mean can't complete paid with paypal not cancel, my store no accept cancellation
I am noticing a lot more US shops without PayPal as a payment option, which surprises me because it is naturally part of Etsy Payments. Etsy Help Center has this article"Can't Complete Payment on PayPal" which I found interesting!
PayPal uses various security measures to protect their users. Because of this, PayPal may occasionally prohibit a buyer from submitting payment to a seller through PayPal.
I am a seller from India since 2013 and till August 2024 i had only PAYPAL PAYMENT option on my shop because Etsy did not allow any other payment mode for Indian sellers. My shop was doing fine and i never had any issue with paypal. Their customer support is prompt and very good. Then Etsy decided to shift us Indian sellers to Etsy Payments.
There are advantages of Etsy Payments - cancellations and refunds are very easy AND the amount comes net of all deductions etsy does for listing and sales BUT yes the payment comes once a week but very prompt.
Etsy said the shops experience 30% increase in traffic which i did experience after shifting to Etsy payment but now since end Feb there is drop in traffic (worst than what i had when i was on paypal payments )....i am hoping this is a temporary thing and it will bounce back because i cant figure out what is casing this.
Sadly I have the Same Issue, I got contacted too about cancled orders. I contacted the Support and just got this answer:
Standalone PayPal isn't available for new shops, and there's no current timeline for changes. Keep an eye on Etsy updates for any future announcements.
so i guess it won‘t change for quiet a while!
Paypal isn't available for SOME new shops
USA and UK new shops it is available
....orders haven't been cancelled, they couldn't have been made in the first place with paypal.
You seem to hang yourself very much on the Word „cancelled“. By this I mean that unfortunately you still lose sales. People wrote that they wanted to make orders. At the point where you can choose which payment method you want, there was no Paypal to choose from, so they canceled the ordering process. Yes, there are people (I am one myself) who neither have a Visa card nor want to use Klarna, etc. I prefer Paypal payment myself. And the Main topic is. It Seems that it won‘t change for quiet a while. And yes for SOME! Shops, Like Mine (germany)
If you want it speeded up, I would contact paypal, as it appears to be affecting mostly sellers from the EU/EEA - it's not a widespread thing
most debit cards are either backed by visa or mastercard, they could use that
