I can only see the first 2 lines fully, the third is sliced in half and there's no 'read more' to click. It's the same with any shop I view while on both Chrome and Edge.
The length of the announcement varies by computer screen, tablet screen or phone screen, so frustrating to adjust! You can't make it even one line long on the computer screen because it will get cut off on a phone screen if viewing in portrait screen orientation.
Etsy really needs to fix this. What good is it to have a technical issue list that they don't even read??
I hope they fix this. I have important info re the tarrifs
mine have always been cut off ... only the top bit has ever shown.
But there has been an option to expand and read the whole thing. Now it's just cut off with no way to expand and read the rest.
It looks terrible cut off so I removed it. Where can I put the info I had? I cannot find it
@heavyistheheart @FallenAngelBrass Hi, Some Sellers were moving that information down to their About Page. Since it's about tariffs, you could do that, or maybe put it in your FAQs.
Hope this helps.
Maybe this is Etsy's not-so-subtle hint for sellers to tighten it up. My shop announcement was loooooooonnnnggggggg. I, too, am wondering where to put all of that information.
There is more chance, the customer reads the announcement over the description, so this is really annoying
I just tightened up the most important info and have it in the first two lines, which shows completely. Then I put a space after the second line so that if they do fix it the info is still there, as I don't like the look of the third line cut off.
As others mentioned, at least for now, the About section is the only other place to put the info in the current set up.
I wish Etsy would fix this, or let sellers know if it will stay this way.
The fact that a couple of comments have been removed proves they are aware of the thread and its subject matter.
You can draw your own conclusions from that.
Hello, has anyone had their option to open (see more) and close (see less) the 'Announcement' part of their front page 'deleted' for some reason? I have and have no idea how to set that option back again. If anyone knows, pls do let me know, thanks! Mee at Literary Seamstress
Can you see your full shop Announcement? I can only read part of mine.
@NanaLetha I just saw hers after I posted mine. Do we know what's going on with it?
@SugarTaffySoap Etsy prefers to fix things that are not broken, rather than fix things that ARE broken.
@JustMeToo Yes. Search engines don't like long announcements and Etsy is hinting to shorten it? Maybe we'll get a character count requirement at some point in the future? Who knows. It's always a boring guessing game for sellers. Once in a while they throw us a bone and make an announcment in the forums. What business owner wants to figure things out all day long between advertising, AI madness, SEO, images, listings, shipping and so on and so on. It's overwhelming. Has ETSY not figured out a seller's goal is to sell, not play around all day long fixing, revising and making changes in our shop?
I have a different take, I can't get people to read a whole description or title without asking questions I'm required to answer within 24 hours about details already in there, I find it hard to believe they are reading any announcements! It does make for a messy face though and gives potential customers a question of the shop's attention to detail. Asking Etsy to keep things clean seems a hopeless task.
Same issue for me - first noticed it on Friday - using Firefox as the browser.
my shop have same problem
I have the same problem. I thought it was just my shop.
Same problem for me too.
The shop announcement scroll bars are gone. If you make a shop announcement longer than 3 lines users cannot read it.
Quality control please.
The scroll bars are missing in my Shop Announcement too. There is important information in the now-not-visible lines, so please fix this issue immediately. I'm intentionally not saying "ASAP" because that could put it on the back burner for months. This NEEDS to be fixed! As ElysianArtisanCA said, "Quality control please!"
