So it has been going on since Monday and I think we deserve some answers after this many days since the pinned thread has not a single update.

Any tracking manually entered or entered through a third party shipping service is only showing Pre-Transit.  I am currently up to over 75 now.

This is effecting star seller status.  Will this be addressed?

Do I have to contact Etsy support and give every single one of the over 75 order numbers to get this fixed or will the fix when it is implemented update all the tracking numbers?

It won't be long until my customers start to contact me asking what is going on with their packages and it's not a good look for my shop, or Etsy

Not dumb in the least; it's a good question and something I've never done.  I didn't know the answer either.

Ok the pre-transit issue looks to be fixed in my shop as of this morning but my star seller shipping rating is at an all time low of 80%. Now they need to fix the most important part!

I chatted with Etsy this morning and they manually updated the tracking on my orders that were incorrect.  I started the chat by copying and pasting the order number (with my shop name included) and provided the existing, incorrect tracking displayed and the actual tracking status that it should reflect.  They were updated successfully while I waited.  Again, the contact person said engineering was working on a fix to the issue.  I'm hoping that if all of us affected sellers keep contacting them every day, they will prioritize a fix to make us go away!

@HauteVintageJewels has it completely fixed things though for you? I went through chat today and the rep changed the order tracking so that it shows as delivered for the orders that were stuck in pre-transit. However when I go now to completed orders and click the pre-transit option, all of these orders are still pulling up as pre-transit even though the tracking now says delivered. So I'm not at all sure that this has been fixed for us. I was told it would take 24 hours for star seller stats to change. If they don't change then we are still stuck with a pre-transit issue with the tracking now showing as delivered.

I have not contacted Etsy but did notice just now that 5 out of the 6 Pre-Transit now say Delivered, so they must be working on changing them. Only problem is that my 100% shipping for Star Seller is now at 79% because it still says I have 6 packages with no tracking. I hope that changes soon too!

I got on with customer service earlier to have them correct my "missing" orders, and they told me that it can take 24 hours to reflect the star seller being updated. We'll see, I guess.

I have posted on this thread a number of times.

I have spent time on chat and in email trying to describe the problem and get it corrected.  If I could fix it I would but the errors are Etsy's.

I have sent snail mail to Josh Silverman requesting correction.

I have read the Etsy communications which state they want to help me to grow my business, but they have not corrected this issue which will make me appear to not be conscientious with my orders.

I have described the problem in my message to buyers asking that they click on the actual tracking # for correct tracking information bc Etsy has a bug which it doesn't seem able to fix.

I have been SS since the inception but now I am resigned to losing the "Star".

I am out of time to spend on this.  I have orders to fill and work to do.

@BirdsongEmporium When I go to my orders, the tracking is all up to date as of today.  None of them say pre-transit anymore.  I don't know if that will be the case tomorrow, as two of them haven't been delivered yet.

@HauteVintageJewels mine don't say pre-transit anymore either, they say delivered. HOWEVER when I go to completed orders and click on the pre-transit option, all of those orders where the tracking was changed to delivered are still being pulled up in the pre-transit section of completed orders. I wondered if yours are still being pulled in there or not because I'm not sure mine have been properly fixed since they are still showing up in the pre-transit section of completed orders.

@BirdsongEmporium I didn't get what you were saying about the pre-transit section, but I think I see what you mean now.  And when I click on pre-transit, all of my "fixed" orders show up there.  So, it's obvious that they are just changing the order status artificially and it doesn't really remove them from pre-transit status.  I can't imagine how something that worked just fine is all of sudden this messed up.  I mean it should just be a simple synch with USPS, et al.

Agreed @HauteVintageJewels this seems to be monumentally messed up. Since the orders now say delivered for tracking but are still in the pre-transit section, I'm not sure that the star seller stats are going to update properly or not.

It looks like every order that has ever had this current tracking problem is in "pre-transit" status according to the filter on the right... But at least customers can (hopefully) see the true status of our shipments now.

@Adorabilities has the fix to the tracking status changed your star seller stats? Since things are still being pulled in to the pre-transit section, I am wondering whether the star seller will actually update or not. 

ETA I do agree that it is at least progress for buyers to be able to clearly see an order marked as delivered.

It takes my CSV a couple of days to update, usually. The ones from 3/16 are still showing as "no," but I'll give it a few more days just to see if it changes.

@HauteVintageJewels I'm wondering if Etsy has recently outsourced in this area and is relying on some other service that is mucked up much like what I've read seems to happen with Aftership and tracking for I think it was UK sellers not showing proper updates.

@BirdsongEmporium I am a developer by day, and my best guess is they have a bug in their interfacing layer with the USPS API & third party shipping suppliers (since it seems that PirateShip labels are the ones most effected)? Just a stab in the dark, though, really.

@WanderingOakSoap right about when this mess must have all started Pirate Ship needed to have a reset of the link to Etsy. So it is clear that Etsy changed something. However I wasn't sure it was something just with third party shippers or not because this problem also affected those purchasing Etsy labels. Whatever Etsy changed clearly has a big bug in it.

@WanderingOakSoap Is it mainly affecting pirateship labels?  I've seen quite a few posts that even Etsy labels are affected.

@BirdsongEmporium Just an additional oddity, when I select the in-transit filter in completed orders, it shows a bunch of orders in delivered status.  I never really spent much time looking at my orders via the filters, so not sure it this is part of the glitch or not.

@HauteVintageJewels I've never used the in-transit filter before but ours is the same, a number of delivered orders going back to January. Usually I look at pre-transit or delivered to check things. Well hopefully this means the programming for these sections doesn't impact what is pulled for the star seller stats because the only things negatively impacting our star seller stats are the orders this month that got stuck in pre-transit mode on the tracking.

I can tell our "extra long weekend" was busier than normal what with company & all. I'm reading the most recent replies on editing the tracking number & my mind wandered. I picture Etsy, their car hood raised in a parking lot, the engine just won't spin over. Thankfully along comes a good Samaritan who has cables & gives them a jump start. They can now at least get to a repair shop to replace the worn out battery or have their charging system checked.
But, well, maybe not, they decide it's running so, hey, they keep on going about their day, tempting fate with every stop. They know something's wrong but just don't want to handle the problem. Another nice person will come along with a work-around and keep them going, right?
