Why are messages that were spam counted against me?

Spam messages are the only ones I didn't respond to within minutes.
Is there a way to rectify this?

Mark them as spam.

View the star seller dashboard, it gives all the information you need as you don't appear to be totally au fait with what is required. It's all pretty straightforward.

I'm familiar. What's not straightforward is that these messages were marked as spam immediately.

Check your spam folder. I thought I'd done it once, and actually I hadn't.

Something else that should be easy to accomplish but not as straightforward as you may think on Etsy.

Yes, I checked the spam folder and the only messages in there are ones I had marked as spam.

Etsy bots can't tell if they are spam. You have to mark them as spam. Supposedly you can even do it after you've been dinged and the ding will be removed in a day or two.

I marked them as spam immediately.

It stinks, but you just have to treat them like any other message and answer them! Then mark them spam.

Did you do it on the app I have replied and they didn't go thru. Sometimes its glitchy why I never use it but for messages. I always use browser.

Make sure you marked them as spam on Etsy, not using the "spam" button on your email.  You can go to your message folder and see if they actually moved to "spam".  If not, try again.

Yep, everything I marked as spam was in the spam folder, unfortunately.

Unwanted messages can be marked as spam. Messages that are marked as spam will be removed from (or "not count towards") the Response rate score for the current evaluation period. Please note that it will take up to 24 hours for this to be reflected in the Response rate score.
