Hi all,
I've been having this issue for about 2 weeks now, whatever I write to Etsy chat support, I get no replies, not even the automated reply.
I cannot request a callback because I'm in Hungary and my country code is not in the list where you put your phone number.
I've also tried other browser and the chat on mobile app, it still doesn't work.
I've opened a support ticket but they closed it before solving it. How can I solve this issue, it is really annoying and I believe Etsy doesn't care at all about the sellers.
Thank you in advance.
You need to keep replying to the closed ticket, with "I still need help" eventually a real person will read it and reply.
This. My last query to support took about 11 replies before anyone actually read the question - never did get a reasonable response, but I'm resigning myself to that being the etsy support experience in 2024.
Post your problem or question here in the forums for help from other sellers.
My problem is actually this, I don't know if someone can help.
So I was in Turkey as a Turkish seller and I moved to Hungary 1.5 month ago. I also changed my "ships from" and shop location settings to Hungary.
And I don't know why, but Etsy has a preferred partnership with a Turkish shipping provider, only their integration can export order data from Etsy and the others cannot do that, what a freedom, right?
I moved and I cannot use that integration anymore because they only operate in Turkey, but my orders still don't get exported to my new shipping company's integration, all the address details are missing. I am also using UPS with a separate integration, even they cannot export my orders from Etsy. All the address details are empty. And I need to fill out each of them by hand one by one. Etsy knowingly blocks my data to export thinking that I'm still in Turkey.
Oh forgot to mention, I even changed the shop owner's address to my Hungarian address and the VAT ID to the Hungarian one, the only thing connects me to Turkey still is the bank account and another ridicilous thing is I cannot change my bank account to a Hungarian one.
I'm really desperately looking for help from Etsy and they cannot even fix this issue.
I hope there is someone who can help me. Because I've no trust in Etsy anymore.
@BabylonCutters: "... another ridicilous thing is I cannot change my bank account to a Hungarian one" Have you seen 'My new bank account is in a different country' https://help.etsy.com/hc/en-us/articles/115015775908-How-to-Update-and-Verify-Your-Bank-Account-for-... ?
It says if you're in Euro zone, this unfortunately doesn't apply to me, Turkey is not in EU, so I am using Turkish Currency not Euros right now to get paid, they cannot change it to a Hungarian bank because of that. They need Turkish bank details.
You can only change if you move to a country with the same currency.
If you move country and set up new accounts which have a different currency to your current shop.
Then you have to start a new shop, there is no fix for this.
@BabylonCutters: I was actually referring to the part that says 'If you’re anywhere else It’s not possible to change a bank account to another country.'
Many platforms do not allow having a bank account in a different country than where the seller resides. Every country has its own laws about what is and is not allowed and frankly with all of the new money laundering laws the platforms taking that stance is understandable.
When you change to a country and want to receive payment in a different country and currency, you have to start a new shop as they can not change the currency (don't ask me why, with all the technology about it should be possible, but this seems the same with many companies not just Etsy)
I wonder if it’s a banking law or an Etsy law?
I would imagine a banking law or something to do with combating tax evasion
When I moved country which had a different currency, I could not transfer my shop, payment provider, website etc..
But as I had no history in the new country, each and every company which said I could not transfer when calling their UK branch, could see all my details from when I dealt with them in the EU, so they could verify me.
So it is not that they do not have the information, so it must be a law and not down to individual company rules
