What is going on with Etsy in the last few weeks, there just seems issue after issue with the site and nothing is getting fixed, activate and deactivate problem, delete listing problem, listing issues, messaging problems, review windows not opening up, shops are being hacked ,the site is in such a mess and its seems to be getting worse every single day, its like the tech department have just given up, or the information that all the sellers are are posting everyday is not getting passed on.
We need this all sorting out, us the sellers cannot work like this, its just ridiculous!
If you ask me many e-commerce sites are just a mess these days. Ebay is 10x worse and customer service is non existent unless you reach out of FB. However, many people steer clear of FB and don't feel comfortable using the alternative.
Hang in there everyone!
Aloha
So glad I built a website last year! I will also be reactivating my Amazon account.
I have been trying to list and renew items for 3 days now and I still get an error message. THREE DAYS! Is this the seller's support we were told we will now be paying for with our increased fees? I can't find anyone to respond.
And if you do get "someone" it could be a bot that quotes the handbook or they send you to the forum with your technical issues. SMH.
I was able to list items yesterday, but I had to do them one at a time. You can't bulk list.
EccentricHandbags, I'm glad that worked for you! I've tried listing one at a time. I tried clearing my cookies. I tried different times of the day. I'm so frustrated.
I'm setting up a Shopify account today. It's easy to bundle your listings and transfer them over.

What's also strange is it's like they shut us off. My shop is very active, I was so busy on Friday I couldn't keep up answering customer messages, which is honestly the norm and orders were coming in just as fast. Saturday 7/9 arrives and it's like my shop doesn't exist. One email the entire day and just before midnight one order. Today again I wake to no messages and no orders. I don't like to complain, it's like biting the hand that feeds me but they just raised their fees and it's supposed to be better not worse. I'm making less money and paying them more. Used to go onto google and search and etsy would pop up right at the top, did that now and I had to scroll and scroll to finally find them. Seems that they've taken the extra money and put it somewhere else and not where they said it was going to go. Very strange but I've been selling here for more than 15 years so not surprising but as always very disappointing.

I look at it at exactly the opposite way - it's us, who is feeding Etsy. And I stopped tolerating their non-sense when they came up with off site adds. I set up my standalone and they already lost a lot of my money because of it.
If they think they can just keep pushing, they might be up for a big surprise.
Arcalliq, I guess it's all relative and personal. A lot of factors come into play when making a decision to have a standalone website as well as Etsy or without continuing with Etsy and also how much business does Etsy generate for each individual shop. Some don't sell much, others a lot etc. For me Etsy is my bread and butter and yes they are a pain in the butt sometimes and definitely hold the power but when I can pay my staff, debut new collections twice a year, pay the bills, go shopping, go to lunch with my besties, put money in my savings every week etc. that's why I say I don't like to bite the hand that feeds me. It's so personal a choice.
Hi-
I'm glad I checked here and noticed I'm not the only one. I can't list anything or relist. Guess I'll check back later. Thanks all for posting.

If you go to "Edit" when trying to renew, then hit "Publish", it should work. I have been doing this without any issues and have not been able to renew unless I do this.

Agree with your Thread. Etsy has been the best site for my Handmade Items (since I came here in 2008. Was on 2 other sites prior). However, I feel uneasy about quite a few things, frustrated w/ others. And I'm not even selling now (trying to keep abreast of things. Have been MIA a lot and often feel like I took a trip down the rabbit hole).
@ChillwolfArt well i have joined you down that rabbit hole, as i have not recovered from the last week in May, what ever they did (apart from include the description for Google) its messed my sales up completely and cant see it getting any better now, final weekend before the change up had 17 sales, and now i have had 14 sales all this month, just the one this weekend, so cant survivie on those sales so now looking to get a full-time job and then close down, really sad how things can change over night!
I'm so sorry. Sales just do not halt like that. (normally that is).
@ChillwolfArt i know they dont, but mine have just stopped over night, and i have been hoping things will get back on track but they are not, and there is not a thing i can do about it, its sad as enjoy what i do but unfortunataly bills need to be paid and cant afford for any savings i might have to dwindle way while i wait for Etsy to get the site up and running properly as live on my own and things often need fixing, so always need a back up pot just in case, might be nice to have a steady income again anyway, less stressful.
I sold a 4 yard precut yesterday. It had a sold out sign on it, I deleted it and this morning, someone bought another one.
UGH
Perhaps you are in the twilight zone LOL (trying to lighten up this issue(s) and cheer us up) ^_^
Oh no. I thought this was only happening to people that listed things on more than one site and couldn't then get rid of the Etsy listing. If it is things that have sold out on Etsy it may happen to me too. A lot of my views are my one of a kind things I have sold long ago. Are our sold out listings out there in general search? Not saying they are, I'm asking.
A few anecdotal reports of “hacking” on a site with 5+million sellers is not really a major issue. Any site or person can be hacked. It doesn’t point to major systemic problems.
I also think confusion comes in when a CC is hacked and a purchase is made on Etsy.
I've had my card hacked 3 times. If the thief came here and made a purchase (they didn't), it wouldn't be "hacking on Etsy", it would be the thief chose to shop here with MY card.
I honestly believe this is the case in many instances.
Also, user error.
etsy has way too many broken features, like the bulk edit
Just got two e-mails telling me that all of my problems have been rectified now (including not being able to renew, activate, deactivate listings etc). Problem being I did not contact them for this at all ever. I contacted them about them deactivating my listings as amber when they are not. Nobody actually reads anything here at Etsy “support”. It is just a put off for another week or more and totally useless.
Yes it is a big mess and I was under the impression that's why the fees were raised to better the site but it's been nothing but a nightmare
