People who have favourited my shop not getting my updates

Hi has anyone had an issue with people who have favourited your shop and have updates turned on but are not getting your shop updates?

I have contacted Etsy but they have not got back to me yet, so I’m waiting for a reply.

would be good to know if anyone else has had this issue?

To be clear, you are referring to the updates icon that reveals new items in your shop to those who have clicked the "follow this shop" button - correct?

How do you know this is happening?

It is an automated process, so only Etsy will be able to provide real insight.

Yes that’s correct, my husband follows my shop and is not getting the updates.

I don't think they always send the updates.

I have gotten updates for shops, and when I go to look at them, I see a lot of new listings that I never received an update on.

Read the Help Center explanation about those offers. Not everyone gets them.

Mmm I’ve read it and it doesn’t cover why people aren’t getting notices for new listings. I get loads from other shops so people should be getting mine as long as they are opted in ?

Only some new listings and sales etc. will be shown in the feed, not all of them. A few sellers have been following this with me over the past several months, and I can confidently say you should not expect that many people will see your items in that feed. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it does not. 

The only reason Etsy is pushing it now is they want more people faving things so Etsy can use that data for their personalization algorithms.

It's supposed to be automatic.  You favourite a shop you are supposed to see their new listings.  Nothing to opt in or out of.

This has been happening for months and months.  I have two shops and each one follows the other so I see exactly that I rarely get updates from the other shop.  And this week etsy makes this big hullabaloo announcement about updates.  This is nothing but etsy spin.

This is a known issue that many have been experiencing for several weeks. It was finally acknowledged by Etsy Support--before the Etsy Updates announcement was made this past week. So essentially they were aware of the problem when the announcement was made:

"Our engineering partners are currently aware of an issue where the Updates feed doesn't update with new listings. We've added your report to the ongoing investigation so the team can take a deeper look into what's going on.

At this time, we do not have a timeframe for when this issue will be resolved, but please know that we prioritize our bugs by impact to our marketplace. In the meantime, please don't hesitate to reach out with any additional questions!"

Thanks for the replies. They really should get their technicals sorted before promoting the service, especially if they knew this problem before the announcement. It gives the impression all of your updates count and clearly atm that’s not true.

Roll it out, mass confusion and glitches, fix it (or not).

In this case, a push for the use of updates (that have been part of the site for years), for their own reasons.  It's not usually about the sellers.
