I have been receiving several messages from buyers saying they can't checkout. It shows this error message:

There was a problem with your order. Please try again

I have tested myself from a different account and I get the same error too. When I try to purchase from another person's shop. All is fine but I and neither can my customers purchase from my store.

Is anyone else having this issue? Have you had this issue before? If so how was it fixed? 

I have spoken to 2 different chat admin, one said there was nothing wrong. The other said they got the same message but didn't know why. 

I'm not sure what to do. I'm loosing customers because of this error message

I have the same problem. I sent messages about this to etsy support but with no positive effects. I just spoke to another seller who had the same problem for about a year. It's unbelievable that technicians can't fix it instead. I have the impression that my requests for intervention are ignored and in return I receive a few words of apology and thanks for the long cooperation.

Is it actually being looked into though? Because I asked again on live chat yesterday and they told me again it was every buyers issue and not Etsy's. They told me to get my buyers to contact support and when I did they told her to go to another Etsy seller, and said it was my shops issue. It wasn't until I sent a screenshot of both what was said to me, and what was said to my buyer, that they then said it was apparently being looked into by the engineering team.

I've lost all traffic to my shop now and I'm guessing everyone who had stuff in their baskets has gone elsewhere now. Really if this is Etsy's problem we should receive our money back for 1 - the Etsy plus subscription we paid for, 2 - the listing fees, 3 - the marketing we paid for. And whatever other fees we've had to pay during this time, when no one has been able to buy. 2 weeks is a long time to have shops unable to process orders, and quite frankly it's unacceptable that we've had to wait this long for any kind of response when Etsy requires us to respond within 24 hours.

Amazing update everyone. Etsy has just contacted me to say they have fixed bug. Yay! Happy dancing all over the studio at the moment. Whoop whoop.

It look my hope is coming after read this thread ,congratulation to you that your shop is back ,it very nice shop of you .

I have this problem also my customers can not to buy my item it about 5 day ago until now it still can not fix it , it show the bug at the checkout "there was a problem with your order. please try again” .I had tried to contacted with Etsy support to help us to solve the problem , it seem to be hopeless for me and keep to waiting for Etsy contact us .  I have zero sale sales 5 days from this problem ,it so sad that I can not to make my item to my customer because this problem .

Oh no! Another one? How awful. I tried to purchase a cat collar and got the error. I might have gone all the way through if I didn't know for a fact my cat hates collars. Buy my grandson's 2 kittens don't mind them. I'll keep them in my cart and keep trying.

There is ZERO change she'll allow a collar but my grandkittens will love them. LOL

I put a collar on my Bombay cat for her 1st birthday, had a little bow and everything. It was ONLY for 5 min so I could snap a pic. She didn't speak to me for a week.

You are in working order. BUT after I checkout (loved that bracelet) I was sent right back to my cart with the bracelet still in it.

I thought maybe I had off-clicked the Place order to Phoenix button so I did it again and received an error message in red at the top that the order I was attempting to checkout on was already confirmed.

I screenshotted it if you need to see it. Send me a message if you want it for your help requests.

So while I was able to order, it wasn't without confusion.

I have no idea what would happen on a mobile.

I got that message all day today when creating a listing and then previewing it.  The listings went live ok, but it is not encouraging to think that customers can't purchase due to a widespread system problem.  Business has been extremely slow since the first of the year as it is.

This may or may not help anyone else having problems, but I had a customer message me and tell me they had problems checking out.  I had originally suggested that they log out and buy as a guest, but I tried a brand new, reserved/custom listing first and they were able to purchase while logged in!  It's a little extra work but might be good to help keep a customer while Etsy sorts out the issue.  The problem DEFINITELY still exists no matter what Etsy claims. Originally, it seemed it was shop specific, but I'm getting sales AND customers saying they cannot check out. So, it sounds like it's not shop specific.  Setting up a new custom listing so far has been the best option for my shop.  I also sell on another platform as a drastic measure, but I know Etsy can shut shops down for "fee avoidance" by going to another payment option that is not on Etsy, so I've been trying alternatives to keep everything on Etsy that needs to be here.
