Tax ID update page erroring out, shop suspended. PLEASE HELP!

I have been trying to update my SSN via the Legal and Tax Information page on Etsy for the past 5 days.

No matter what I do, I get an error message saying "There was an error saving your taxpayer information. Please try again."

I'm not sure if there are Etsy admins on this forum, but I am at my wit's end trying to fix this. So far, all I got from Etsy was a canned email.

My issue is that i finally got it updated. My store has been suspended for 8 days. I updated it immediately when I got the email to update tax info. I had to switch from EIN to SS because that is how we file. I didn't even get a warning before that email that it was suspended. Said they would update in an hour and it's been 8 days. No way to contact them. So frustrating. This is our livelihood.

Thank you Georgialee! I heard back today after telling them all my info was correct over and over, as I confirmed it with my tax accountant. There is an issue with "updating tax info"  on the Etsy side and Engineers are working on it now! At least I can stop banging my head trying to figure it out!!

Update: Etsy is saying that my account shows active on their end and recommended the whole 'clear your browser ' routine, 

All my listings are still deactivated. 

However, I was able to add a listing! So there's hope.

If your account is suspended, try adding a listing to see if works.

That tax rule isn't new and it shouldn't affect your ssn unless you entered it wrong the first time.

That's not the problem. Before you were not required to give an SSN, but due to the changes in the law you have to add one if you reach $600. Etsy requires to have it entered before you hit $500 or they suspend your shop. However, right now the system won't allow you to add it at all. We're not updating are SSN, we are trying to add it.

Update: still suspended. Instagram and FB answered quickly but after explaining the situation, they said the issue was being taken care of by the respective department. Requests for escalation were ignored. I'm back to square one.

Experiencing the same issue going back almost a month ago. I was however about a week ago to get it to save my SSN. Now it's stuck on "verifing, check back in an hour" well it's been a week and no update, still suspended. Beyond frustrated

Only 9 days for me and I too am beyond frustrated.  I can't imagine how I'm going to feel 20+ days from now.  SMH. 

But, has anyone see where this issue has actually been resolved?  Has anyone been able to get sorted and move on from this?

Same thing happening to my account. There has to be something we can do. Maybe look into legal action as a next step. What they are doing to our shops doesn't seem legal. Many of us rely on our sales to live.

Yes it's wonderful news... I just ask if they can turn my store back on while they fix this issue, so I'll let you know.

I too was able to add  a listing.  The listing  the said.. See your listing.

Following that link says..  The item isn't available.  

This is ridiculous.

I finally talk to a human! She has been very helpful in helping me. They do have a lot of people with the "update tax payer info" issue. Unfortunately, until they fix the bug, we're all stuck waiting...

It worked! Oh my goodness. But still just want the rest activated. So I see al my listings under inactive. But it says deactivated by Etsy. I'm going to message them to see if I can reactivate them.

For me.. I listed it. 

Then took a look at my shop, yours, and the OP. 

They all look the same.  Still suspended.

Hi i am also having a similar issue. As i have recently changed countries uk to Germany i have a new tax ID and it will not let me upload as its says error too. Reached out to Etsy over a week ago and the opened a ticket and still nothing. This is absolutely ridiculous that no one has responded.

Same issue here. Trying to use SSN, so EIN is not my issue. Fortunately, I market outside Etsy and direct traffic here, so I can just bypass Etsy altogether... just a little more work on my end to manage payments and shipping separately.

This is happening to my shop too. Mine has been down for 17 days now, and it took 8 different reps, 8 different responses to come up with "We're aware of a system error, there's no eta of when your shop will be back up, sorry for the inconvenience."

Same issue for our shop, we're on day 4 and luckily have gotten it to the "We are currently checking your Taxpayer info, please check back in an hour. We will message you when there's an update" point, but have been stuck with our shop listings stating "Deactivated by Etsy". We're feeling stressed because we are still just starting out and we had started getting more traffic, this happened and it looks bad to customers. When we read all messages you all have put we couldn't believe what everyone has been going through, it's really not okay and we are wishing everyone luck. We've been trying to get help from reps and finally they said they would have their manager email us in 1-2 hours...8 hours later we haven't gotten any response. We don't know what's going on but will be fighting for our shop and everyone else's as hard as we can.

It's discouraging, frustrating, heartbreaking, and exhausting.  The "Please check back in an hour"..  has been stable now for 15 days for me.

I keep checking here to see if anyone has gotten their shop restored...
