Shop currency change became a disaster

Jump to solution

This morning, I issued a currency change into my shop, and according to the 'shop currency' section, it states the followings:

"Changing your shop listing currency. You can change your shop listing currency at any time. The conversion can take up to an hour, and you will receive an email from us when it's complete. Your listings will remain active and can be purchased during this time.'

So, after 11+ hours, my listings are still in the 'change process' light grey color, which means I cannot edit anything, but most importantly, they can't be purchased by anyone.

I've used the Etsy outsource chat, and they told me after some hours that the 'genius' fix was to restart my internet router, and they can't do anything further for this issue???

Then I've used the 'have us call you' service, and after many back-and-forths, emails, and screenshots, they told me to wait 24 to 48 hours, and if the currency change does not take place, to contact them again???

As you can probably understand, I'm freaking out right now because this error can not be fix by waiting more time.

I write it down just in case to get noticed by anyone of the Etsy technical support team and give a closer look and solution.

PS. I've been on Etsy for the last 10 years, and it's not my first time changing my shop currency, but I never thought that this simple task could be such a disaster.

Good morning and have a wonderful Sunday to all. The process complete after 40+ hours without confirmation email, the star seller has been reset to beginning and of course no one from Etsy support reply. The currency conversion rates are a bit off. Thankfully my shop seems to work just fine.

@ArtPrintsVicky: Are you aware that your Star Seller sales stats will probably reset to zero after a currency change?

Thank you for your reply and your information but unfortunately it's not my main concern at this point.

I found this out the hard way. I wished I'd seen these posts before I decided to change currency. I haven't had one sale since changing the currency and lost my star seller badge. I'm considering changing back to the original currency but afraid to screw things up more.

I'm not an expert but I think it may be the size of your shop.  Supposedly the more items and variations, the longer it takes.  You seem to have 1752 items with up to 40 variations which is a lot of prices to adjust.

One person waited 32 hours:

Thank you for providing me with this previous post. I was very frustrated and I didn't even think to check previous posts before my post.

This is even more frustrating because Etsy has been experiencing this issue for almost a year and does not seem to care about providing a better solution. Or warning the sellers that the convert may take up 24-48 hours with discontinue the ability to sell this period.

You're welcome.  It is rather shocking that it often takes so much longer than they say it will, and they have never updated that page.

Good morning to all and happy weekend, it's been 24 hours and still nothing. Kudos to the Etsy team for doing absolutely nothing at all. All Etsy does is prove daily how indifferent it is to the smooth running of its platform.

hi, reading your post I wanted to ask you if you have experienced a drop in sales / profits since you made the change of currency of your shop... since in my experience I made the change at the end of January and the drop in profits has been exponential... I do not know if I should also include a drop in sales that I have seen many comment during this first quarter of the year 2024, or if the currency change really affects sales. hoping to hear you soon thank you!

I just checked and can purchase from your shop, so that seems to be working. As for your star seller, your shop is still showing all the badges.

Other sellers who changed currency seemed to lose them straight away
