Client made some purchases from me. I sent a message to thank her for her business. ( I used the envelope on the right of the purchases to send the message).
Client responded saying that she's waiting with bated breath for the package. (She used the envelope on the left under Shop Manager to respond).
Stats indicate that I did not respond to client.
It was not necessary for me to send another message to the client since she was responding to my message.
However, my stats now reflect negatively.
Because of this, I'm no longer on my way to being a Star Seller.
Are my stats correct?
Did she reply in the same message thread or did she start a new one?
You can mark the message as spam.
There’s no need to send an extra thank you message to buyers. Etsy already provides a tool to send a message automatically. Go to Shop-Manager -> Settings -> Info & Appearance -> Message to Buyers -> Add your thank you message -> Save Changes

You sent basically an "internal" message.
She sent you a message thru "Messages" (big difference) - You need to answer all messages that come thru under "Messages".
because you initiated the convo, you can't do anything. Best not to send messages first, without reply to each response

My thoughts are that the courteous thing to do when one buys from you, would be to thank them for doing so immediately.
The client responded to me saying that they are anxiously awaiting the parcel.
Her response did not warrant a response from me. My understanding is that all messages no longer have to be responded to.
However, it appears my understanding is incorrect.
