For a few days now, the send button isnt working when I try to reply to a message. If I go into an original order, I can reply from there. And of course - I'm getting dinged - because I'm not replying within the hour so ..............If they havent ordered anything, how am I supposed to reply?
Anybody else having this issue?
If it is a first time message from someone asking a question about the item, you should be able to answer that. If you can't, it almost sounds like your messaging has been muted for some reason. Have you sent messages to "potential" buyers promoting your items? This is against Etsy rules AND against the law in many countries. It can often result in loss of messaging privileges for a while.
As for getting dinged, I presume you mean for Star Seller? If so, you don't have to answer within an hour, its within 24 hrs.
I can only reply thru messages in an order. I dont send messages to anybody to promote my shop either within Etsy or out through email.
They ding me for not replying within a few hours. I reply within 2 hours and my shop still shows I dont. Their numbers dont add up.
@WeeWorldConstruction - Are you on a computer/browser or are you using the Etsy seller's app?
The app has limitations & various glitches. At times replying thru the app doesn't get recognized by Etsy. Using a computer/browser does register with Esty & the Star program.
Do note that updates to the Star program are not instantaneous, it can take a day or so.
@WeeWorldConstruction - For Star Seller you have 24 hours to reply to a message. But if you haven't been able to send messages for days now, there must be a glitch somewhere. It is concerning since obviously not everyone is a repeat buyer.
I'll mention that with all the recent scam/spam messages being sent, it's possible that some of the new "buyers" had their account removed by Etsy. But usually Etsy flags these messages with a blurb "the account no longer exists". Then you do need to send to spam.
You'll need to contact Etsy on this. Since you're a Star Seller it might be possible for you to get a call back from support. Chat may or may not be able to help. Email help tickets do eventually get a reply but it can take some time. (If you try for a call back I'd wait until Etsy's EST business hours kick in on Monday)
Are you getting an error message (on screen) when you try to send a message? What does it say?
I had this happen a couple weeks ago, customer and I messaging back and forth like normal then all of a sudden I could not send a reply...to the same person. The send button was there but it would not work. I just opened a new tab, went into the Etsy shop, and the button worked fine again. It has not happened since so I am guessing a small glitch. I am also on my desktop and not the app. Maybe this will help?
We also experienced this previously from the Messages page - an intermittent issue where you click on the send button in a reply and nothing happens.
