There have been lots of glitches and errors the past few days on Etsy.  In my experience, site-wide glitches that last usually precede some new feature rollout, so something may be coming.  Just a guess.

We shouldn't need to do this workaround, and it will be inconvenient for those that need to renew lots, and can't wait until things get back to normal, but I just got the red error banner when trying to renew, and the workaround others have posted worked for me.

Worth a try -

Click to open the listing in edit mode and renew that way.

Re: Renewal Workaround

Unfortunately this did not work for me in edit mode, perhaps because the listings expire tomorrow. But going to the listings from the shop instead, I could use the links up top to renew.

Why is Etsy silent on this issue shouldn't they be posting about it so at least so that we know they are aware and working on a resolution?

They could also consolidate all the possible workarounds and questions to one thread.  They have to have technical people working over the weekend.

Thanks for the workaround. I have the same problem. I'm assuming this a known issue that Etsy must be working on?

Re: Renewal Workaround

Some people have posted that they want to renew before an item expired, and the fix to go into edit mode didn't work.  I was just able to renew a listing from shop view, using the options above the photos - charged 20 cents, shows new expiration date in Listings Manager.   * it took about 10 min. to move to the front spot, for some reason.

I was also able to copy a listing and make a new listing earlier today, with no problems.

Related to this issue - I think it's a big deal for people who sell on different venues that need to quickly deactivate something that sold elsewhere.

Others have posted that the Sell on Etsy still works for this.  On laptop, use the options above the pictures when you view your own shop - I tried this, and it works

Re: Renewal Workaround

I can't renew , deactivate or delete  listings that have already expired. I copied and published all my expired listing to get around not being able to renew them but now I have a bunch of expired listings I will delete when it gets fixed. If you can't list a new item - I was able to copy a listing and publish it , so I guess that could be a work around. Copy a listing and change all the info.

Re: Renewal Workaround

I was able to renew in the app or in Edit.  I'm using the old app.  I didn't like the new one that rolled out a couple of months ago.

Re: Renewal Workaround

You mean to go to the actual listing and click "Manage" on top right corner?

It does not work for deactivating a listing. I just tried it.

@cuttingsNL  Not sure if this will help but try this (in case you have not)  Open the listing from your shop front (NOT the shop manager).  Click deactivate there (at the top of your listing where is says Listing Tools) and that should do the trick.

It worked for me so good luck, hope that helps

Re: Renewal Workaround

I'm trying to figure out what is the "shop front". You mean from the dashboard section to click on the Etsy orange icon bottom left? I went there but there are no three dots to be found on the listing, when hovering my mouse.

@cuttingsNL

The shop front is the page your buyers see. They cannot see your dashboard. This is your shop front: https://www.etsy.com/shop/cuttingsNL

Find and click the listing you want and at the top are links (if you are signed in) to edit, renew, etc. Use those links. That's what worked for me.

@cuttingsNL

In shop manager, click your shop motif to take you to your shop front. Use the search bar there to find the listing and you can deactivate from there.

Thanks by the way.  I have managed to both renew listings as well as reactivated old listings.

Re: Renewal Workaround

This works great for renewals, thank you. Any idea for a workaround to deactivate something in the active listings?  The item is out of stock and I can’t take it down (resorted to changing the heading to “Item Unavailable because Etsy won’t let me change this”!

Re: Renewal Workaround

@TheWheatWeaver  You should be able to deactivate by viewing your own shop (like a buyer would) - view the listing - the editing options above the main picture works.  I was able to deactivate a listing this way.

* This only works for live listings - we can't deactivate sold or expired listings
