What do I have to do to get help resolving my plaid deposit issue that has been going on for over a month? Customer service has not resolved my issue and now they are not responding
For an in depth look at the reasons sellers have for not wanting Plaid rummaging in their accounts:
I do not think any sane person would want "Plaid rummaging in their accounts:", but there is the MANUAL verification option which gives no greater access than that which you initially gave Etsy when on-boarding.
At that time Etsy would have used the services of a Third Party verification platform, but we were not told how our account information was being verified.
With this new development for US Sellers, Etsy is advising "up front" which Third Party Verification service is being used.
The option to Verify Instantly OR Manually is also being offered.
The big problem is that Etsy should never have offered the "Instant" process. This is what has created all the "blowback", concern and suspicion.
No Shop should need "Instant" verification when on-boarding. The established process of a 3-5 day wait for verification was perfectly OK.
As far as the process now underway is concerned, it maybe inconvenient to many US Sellers if they have to wait 3-5 days for funds to be released, but most who have completed the "Manual" process have reported a much shorter wait or no "hold" at all.
I do not agree with sharing my information with Plaid or any other third parties. I have been keeping an eye out in the forum for discussions having to do with Plaid. I have about 19 days to decide if I want to share my information with Plaid or not get paid. I refuse to use Plaid. So then do I have to close my shop which has been open since 2016?
If you choose manual verification, you're only giving Plaid your bank account number and routing number -- the same information anyone can see on your checks. You are not giving them access to your account's transactions.
A few months ago when Etsy put Plaid out here for us, Manual verification was available. It is no longer available. I remember trying it and I waited 1-3 days for the verification to process only to receive that there was a problem with my account. I verified once more and by then there was no such thing as a manual option its either Plaid or not get paid. I just went into my payment settings right now and now Etsy/Plaid are straight out just asking for my account number. It only makes me not trust Etsy and Plaid even more. Forcing me to do something I do not want to.
Perhaps, your particular Bank ( or type of account with that Bank) is not set up for ACH (Automatic Clearing House) transactions? This is necessary for the Manual Verification Process which does not require any account access or passwords etc.?
This may be the reason why the Instant option is the only one showing to you?
The first step is to enter your account number. Only after that does the choice come up for manual vs. instant. The manual option still exists.
There's no way to do it without entering your account number --that's what they're verifying.
I have given up and closed shop. Will find another venue.
