I received an email today (March 6th) from [This content has been removed by Moderation - as per Section 1, Item 1 of our Community Policies] offering a $25 gift card for completing the survey.
It says the survey is powered by “user interviews”, and I know sometimes Etsy does research surveys. I’m just not sure if this one is legit
Is it normal for them to come by email instead of shop messages? Is it normal to get paid?

I'd be wary...sounds more like a phishing scam...

Re: Offered $25 for Research Survey
That’s what I was thinking, but I wasn’t sure what Etsy’s method was for Research surveys
I tried researching but most people didn’t say if it was through email or shop messages, if it was from Etsy or a 3rd party

Re: Offered $25 for Research Survey
Was this an email (off Etsy) or something you got in your From Etsy folder in Etsy messages?
Etsy usually uses a place called Qualtrics for surveys. Those surveys come via email, address is usually surveys@qualtrics-survey.com . I've never gotten paid for doing a survey here.

Re: Offered $25 for Research Survey
Whenever I get an email from a different address, I always check the email headers in my email app.... because something can look legit but actually be a spoofed email coming from someone else.

Re: Offered $25 for Research Survey
Google ''Etsy Research/*editing the name out*@etsy.com'' and read the OP's posts and the responses on Reddit. One of the responders is someone we know from the forums and is very reliable.

Re: Offered $25 for Research Survey
I only see one post, the rest tries to show me Etsy shops. It seems they (OP) received the request through their Etsy inbox, mine was exclusively sent to my email which is what raised my concern.

Considering that article is from 3 yrs ago, is even more reason to be wary...

Re: Offered $25 for Research Survey
Etsy's survey requests come by email. I've never had one come through Messages. I've never known Etsy to pay for a survey response. Sounds like a phishing attempt. AshleyBrown is an Etsy shop with no items listed currently. Probably trying to get emails for sending advertising.

Re: Offered $25 for Research Survey
@dayspringcollectible "I've never known Etsy to pay for a survey response" - it's quite common for certain types of research. It's easy to Google and see that this was likely legit.

Re: Offered $25 for Research Survey
I have taken surveys and done interviews with Etsy. One offered $50 in ETSY CREDIT, not in cash.
Ask Etsy through the Help Center if it's legit.

I would not click on any links in that email.
Best of luck.

Thank you!
I apologize for including the email address, is there a way to edit the post to remove it?

Re: Offered $25 for Research Survey
Most Etsy surveys come through email. I have been paid gift cards for Etsy surveys before, usually more UX-related. There's a YouTube interview with Ashley Brown, UX research coordinator at Etsy, although it is 3 years old.
Sounds legit to me, but I could not say without actually seeing the email (including the headers, as someone else mentioned). [Edit - admin says it was legit above; they posted while I was typing]
Some people in these forums are scared of every link and think any email is a scam; it's not usually that complicated to figure out what is legit, though.

Re: Offered $25 for Research Survey
Etsy does occasionally give gift cards for surveys. Not often, but they do. Since Etsy admin ^^^^ has confirmed it, it's legit.
