Messaged marked as spam from customer

Jump to solution

In the past couple of weeks I have received 2 messages from potential buyers that have been sent to my spam on my Etsy messages.  I brought it to Etsy's attention the first time because I noticed my star seller for messages was marked down to 95% saying I had not answered all messages within 24 hours.  They told me they couldn't do anything because on their end they cannot see it that it was in spam (I moved it right away and answered the person as soon as I saw). This morning I noticed yet again as I went on my messages on my computer that I had a spam message which was sent 4 days ago from a potential buyer. I immediately sent a message through the chat (the message from the customer is still unanswered and left in spam to show Etsy it really is there) and was told they would look into it.  Since star steller restarted for April I now have a 93% for replying to messages. How do I get this fixed? It is not the sellers fault if a message goes to the spam folder on our etsy account. I use the Etsy app  on my phone for 99% of everything regarding my shop. The Spam folder does not show up on the Etsy app and I do not get an email notification stating i have messages in my spam folder.

This seems to have been going on for a couple of weeks.

Not sure if Etsy is fixing it so all you can do is check your spam folder every day.

I had one go to spam yesterday, and another one today. I luckily noticed both within 24 hours, but I'd love for them to fix this issue.

Interesting!  Maybe that’s why the two messages I sent to one seller asking a question about one of her patterns went unanswered. Probably in her spam and she has no clue she’s been messaged. This is NOT GOOD, for the sellers OR potential buyers!

@Princessesandbubbles: There have been quite a few threads in this forum about legitimate messages ending up in the spam folder. All you can do right now is periodically check your spam folder via a browser (at least once per day).

As others have mentioned, you need to include the licensing information for all of the trademarked and copyrighted names and images in your shop in your listing.

"Inspired by" is not a defense against trademark infringement. And even if the ribbon / fabric you are using is licensed, the license is to the manufacturer of the ribbon. Many of these licenses specifically prohibit using the product to manufacture items for sale. So you need to make sure that you can legally sell an item made with the ribbon and that you have permission to use the trademarks to promote the items. Be sure to clearly indicate those licenses in your listings, otherwise buyers (and Etsy) may conclude they are counterfeits. Including the licensing information will show that you are not selling those items illegally.

I have the same issue but not just new customers. I've had to search for customers I am in communication with that got marked as spam. Its a really bad inconvenience as I have lost 3 sales now do to this. The customers also do not know this is happening on their side either which is why i will get 3 threads for the same person or I just don't hear from them again. For the new customer messages the reason I'm getting it was put in spam is because they have never messaged me before. What sense does that make?  I was told by Etsy via email they would not be answering any of my emails anymore.
