I accidentally set up a code with one click regarding abandoned cart that I wasnt ready to set and now I cant remove it and it frustrates and stresses me as the code is wrong and I dont want to have the discount on my whole store. I tried to contact etsy support center through the chat and it feels like it is down as I dont get any new responses. I only see old conversations and the chat is just open without anything happening. I need this issue to be fixed as soon as possible.
@PillowSpook Does it show you an expiry date on the coupon code screen?
@CraftyCornishMaidsit was a discount code made some months back and it had "no end date." The customer who used it is new as they bought a completely new item I just released (unrelated to what my shop is known for- they barely found my shop). The discount finally got deactivated though, thankfully
@DaysofYoreTreasuresI had two promo codes that had been shown as "paused" with no end date. One of which was clearly still usable to some customers. Thankfully the one I was most worried of has been deactivated
Being on pause only means they wont send any more out...however...people who have the code can still use them. I have a few repeat customers who keep using them every order. Also some people just act like they are a guest and use them... sneaky.
I went to check on the status of my coupons today and they have been Paused. No button to reactivate them but I guess this means they are looking into it?
I am having the very same issue, and contacted Etsy Chat who never indicated this is a wide-spread problem. It is now mid-May and it is still happening. I've already been 'slighted' by someone who is over-using the Thank You 10%, and she is only a 'guest' status, very calculated.
there is no problem, and no such thing as "over using" the coupon,
from etsy
Post-purchase thank you coupons will expire one year from the date of their creation.
It's working as intended, and they keep coming back , which is what it aims to encourage
The fact that we're being forced to use a coupon code many of us would rather not is beyond ridiculous. If I want a coupon code for my shop I'll set one up. That we're made to not only use it, but it's viable for a year is insane. If it was one and done I could maybe get behind it, but I have the same customers using the THANKYOU10 code for every single order and it's costing me money. Is Etsy going to reimburse us for all the money we're losing by being forced to use their promo code?
And before anyone says it, We're unable to deactivate the codes so YES we are being forced to use it and take losses just because Etsy wants us to.
Wondering if anyone has contacted Ina Steiner? Usually nothing gets fixed until there starts to be bad press.
did you resolve the issue? I cannot deactivate my code either and was chatting with etsy each 2 different times since the end of march and then they stopped responding to me also. They were refunding me the discounts because of course it is no fault of mine! And since they will not fix the issue then I guess they just stopped responding to me. I also feel that they did something to my shop because now my sales have dropped!
Yeah. This is yet another issue with Etsy that makes me think I should just call it quits and move over to Insta or Shopify. I'm so tired of stuff like this on Etsy. It's insane to not be able to deactivate or change a targeted promo code, especially in the event one is made in error. Returning buyers are taking advantage of this promo long term, even though it's now "paused"... What I thought would be a temporary offer is now literally costing me more than I can afford with no end date in sight. I am angry.
There is an end date in sight
When you pause them, only people you have sent the coupons to already can use them, and then, only for a limited time.
60 days, for those you offered an abandoned cart coupon to,
and 1 year, for those you offered , if they bought something from you, and you offered them a "come back" coupon
..... not sure how you can accidentally set them up, and if you do, you can pause them straight away, so none are sent out
Concur. Many times I am asked to accept a lower price for an item, most likely already on sale, only to find out an old coupon code from months before, that was paused (can't delete it!) was also used and then if they came thru from google search, you are hit with massive fees.
