Just had this message come through on Etsy messages
Hello, Dear Seller. Welcome to Etsy technical support! Your item has been paid for by the buyer, but an error occurred in the order processing and the order cannot be displayed in your personal account, please enter your 𝐞-𝐌𝐚𝐢𝐥 in this chat to receive a customized form to verify your store. Thank you!
but took over an hour and a lot of back and forth as no email received… finally received the email so clicked the verification link and it’s took me to somebody else’s Etsy selling account
please can someone help or explain this to me, have I been hacked ??
it was Etsy support who was messaging me
Most likely you have been Hacked. Especially since you clicked the link and it took you to another Seller's Account. I am so sorry. It was a scammer, not Etsy Support. There has been an infestation of these scammers, and they have been impersonating Etsy Support, and a FAKE Chat as you reported. NEVER click on an email; a Buyer will never need your email to make a purchase. It goes through Etsy Payments. Here is an Etsy Announcement re: Scams. It's under past Announcements. But really, Etsy needs to place a prominent Warning in every Seller's Dashboard.

You should report this to the authorities; it is a cyber crime, And I think it would be a good idea for you to "at" Admin HerrMoostache (if you wish). He has popped into several Threads where the Seller was Hacked.
It’s a scam!
it was not etsy support messaging you, it was scammers.
SCAM. That is not how etsy works. Looking at your storefront, you have no sales.
When you do get a sale, you will see it on your dashboard.
Do not give them your email or any banking information AT ALL. Do not engage. Mark the message as spam and go about your day.
it seems they are trying to cover that annoying detail that your shop has NO sales by saying this:
"an error occurred in the order processing and the order cannot be displayed in your personal account"

You know what is equally disturbing. Currently, Etsy has been Verifying some Accounts (perhaps to do with the INFORM Act). And these d-mn scammers are zeroing in on Verification now, as well as posing as Etsy Support through Chat.
thank you everyone, its sad because ive just plucked to courage up to list my items onto etsy from a lot of peer pressure from family to help myself and feel confident then i fell for this !!! i didn't give any details apart from click on the link, but have changed my passwords etc. The message was within my etsy inbox and the picture is the etsy logo so i presumed it was all ok.. silly me. Thank you everyone who has messaged, hopefully this also has helped anyone else that had or has the same message. i did do a search first before posting but nothing came up. have a great week everyone. xx
@MadeByTommyJ Please don't feel silly. You're new on a site, trying to learn the ins and outs of running your Shop. There is a lot to learn here. And here comes a thug trying to scam you. Anyone could have fallen for it (and many did). There is a seasoned Seller who reported receiving 40 scam Messages within one week. Just imagine the Sellers who don't visit the Forums, and how many were scammed. So don't ever feel silly; it could happen to anyone.
I also just received 2 messages. First one said it was a verification team that needed my store verified and to click on their link. I clicked the link, but immediately left. I didn't fill out anything. Then got another message 5 minutes later from another guy saying I cannot receive payments anymore until I give them my email address. Reported it as spam. Poor language skills in both emails, and neither message was under the Etsy Staff Tab. It was an account with 0 followers. These guys are good tho, as they had fake banners at the top of their messages.
@QuantumLeapAstrology Any message that is legitimately from Etsy will be in both the “Inbox” and “From Etsy” sections under messages. If it is NOT in the “From Etsy” folder, then it is NOT from Etsy. That’s why the “From Etsy” folder is there - so you know what’s really from Etsy and what’s from scammers purporting to be Etsy.
