The dates and times that show up on Etsy's list of where your package might be is COMPLETELY different from the USPS dates and times.

The etsy time is incorrect.  The USPS time is accurate.  I have receipts of when I drop of my "stuff", they correspond with the times at the USPS site, but the Etsy site has completely different times.  By HOURS mind you.  Not a few minutes.

Not only is the first time wrong, but all the times while the item is passing thru the USPS system.

Do you understand the impact this will have with already anxious holiday shoppers. (I won't even talk about the impact this might have on star seller.)

PLEASE FIX THIS.

ETA:  This is not on just one package.  It is on all the recent packages.  FIX IT.

Yes, time between USPS site and Etsy are different. But non of my customers complain about what time or which day I dropped off their package. It seems like I am the one who is anxious about how soon USPS in my location scan the packages after I dropped off.

Yes, @MaritynDog, my buyers are not complaining either.  Like you, it is just me that is being the anxious Annie.

@AtMemoryLane Several times recently Etsy Mods have explained that the Shipping and Messaging data uses UTC time not Etsy Time or a Seller's Local Time.

I have just looked at the difference between UTC and time in Etsy Time (Brooklyn NY) and it is 5 Hours

"Coordinated Universal Time is 5 hours ahead of New York, NY, USA"

Perhaps, that may explain the differences of 5-6 hours which are being noted here as this would change depenfing on where in the US the Seller was located.

Thanx for your comment @CarpetCollectionAU, but the etsy times are 5 or 6 hours BEHIND the actual time.  So that can't be the problem.

If UTC is 5 hours ahead of NY time then NY time would be 5 hours behind UTC? Quite frankly, the Etsy timestamps always seem confusing to me, but the Tracking always seems to update correctly, even if I cannot work out exactly how this is so!!!!

I think that part of the confusion that USPS scans are in various time zones and then Etsy tries to compensate for the shop's time zone. When we generate a label, the date/time is in UTC, other scans are usually in the local time zone.

@BagmakerSupply, thanx for your comment.  My question is...then why is this only happening recently on these current items being shipped out now?  I mean, this anomoly has not happened before.  I have been on here since 2014 and this is the first I have seen it.

@AtMemoryLane

I've been seeing it regularly for awhile. I usually ignore what's on Etsy and just follow USPS, except in the case of flats that don't show tracking on USPS.
