I received an order back with "No such number". When I went to research it I discovered Etsy Labels changed the address to a different address from what is on the order receipt!
It was supposed to be: 11020 71st Rd
It was and is still inputting on a new label: 14100 71st Rd
This is a serious glitch!!!
@TagTeams I don't think it is the same.
@InspiredAndGifted Thank you!!! It was so frustrating as I felt like nobody believed me! I did contact Etsy support through chat. They gave me credit for what I charged for shipping & said since the first order shipped on time it would not count against me if I did a new label. I have had it ding me when I created a new label for a lost order. What day did you create the label?
To all who posted prior, it was a glitch. Etsy support was able to see it, but had no answers why the address on the Etsy shipping label was different from the order. It possibly pulled a different address from past addresses the customer used, BUT it should not have done that as it wasn't the address on the current order. I took screenshots as well.
I know how to correct the issue, that is not the problem.
My concern is now I feel like I need to check every Etsy label to my order page to make sure it's correct, so double the work.
I also posted as a heads up. If you get a packaged returned to you as "no such number" double check the address to your customer's order.
I totally believe you because crazy things happen on etsy.
I literally just went back and clicked thought my recent orders and pulled up all the shipping label info to make sure it matched LOL. Luckily for the past 2 days I didn't see any discrepencies.
Most of the time when I print labels I don't double check that the address is correct because I just assume it is what the buyer put in if I didn't change anything. I think now I may be more careful and look it over.
I guess I should have reworded that. I knew it wasn’t the same glitch but wondered if it was a part of the reason yours was in error as well.
Hope it’s cleared up soon.
@cindylouwho2 Thanks for chiming in, I was just going to send this to you as @InspiredAndGifted had the same issue!
@TheLonelyHeartCo please come back to tell us what you find out. I suspect it maybe due to the Buyer paying with their PayPal, and the wrong address is on their PP account - as @PrimFun mentioned.
@PillowDetails: In the past at least, our experience with the PayPal address replacing what the buyer selected on Etsy was that the PayPal address was the one which was reflected on the actual order.
And even if that is the issue, Etsy should be pre-filling labels with the shipping data on the order, regardless of if it is correct or not.
I can totally understand @TheLonelyHeartCo 's concern that the data is not the same in both places. That is the real problem.
@TheLonelyHeartCo it might be a good idea to pin the post by @BagmakerSupply as it may cut down on the confused replies?
For those folks still not getting it:
@BagmakerSupply That is it exactly, thank you!
If the customer gets back to me, I will still ask though. Who knows a glitch is a glitch & we all know some are very hard for Etsy to replicate. If they can't replicate it, it can't be fixed! At least they could see mine. I know another seller had it happen. So unfortunately it's not probably the last we'll see of it.
Update...the customer did get back to me. She says she has never used the address not even by accident. She paid with Apple Pay.
I would hope Etsy would take a serious look at it as the "shipping label" is still showing a different address than the "order" address.
@cindylouwho2 & sellers, it happened again!!!
Etsy labels changed the shipping address to something different than what is on the order receipt!
@TheLonelyHeartCo Is it a different address entirely, or just one part changed like last time?
@cindylouwho2 It changed the number & street name. This doesn't look like a fat finger issue at all. It put the city as part of the street name & the number is completely different.
This happened to me twice now!!! The first time was a few months ago... and now it just happened again! The address will be... 123 Main Street... and when you print the label... it'll change it to 520 Main Street. No rhyme or reason for the change!! I try and check all the labels.. but sometimes it's a 5 digit house number and I just don't catch it. Very frustrating!!!
@DesignsLM I am almost glad to hear this is happening to another person, not just @TheLonelyHeartCo
It's such a strange bug - where are they getting these mistakes?
@DesignsLM and @InspiredAndGifted Did you report it to Etsy?
I just received a reply back from them. It's on their radar, but it hasn't been reported enough for it to made a priority to fix! Their solution was use a different shipping label company.
@cindylouwho2 wanted you to see the update.
It has just happened to me - Etsy has input a wrong address. It was supposed to go to Ahwahnee - Etsy input Anaheim - street name is similar but number is different. I thought the customer had not updated her address -Customer has lived in that Ahwahnee home for 22 years. It is clearly an Etsy glitch.
Update - Etsy has informed me that it is a glitch in their system. They said there is no reflection on my shop and they are refunding the customer.
@SeamariesBounty I have had it 4 times in the last 2 months. I now double check every label once they are printed as the changes shows on them after I print labels. This has added time to my work day, but way better than an upset customer.
@TheLonelyHeartCo - Totally agree with you. Since I guess I'm in that "system" now I will do that also.
This just happened to me and reading this thread was frustrating. I just had a customer say on my feedback that I sent their package to the wrong address!!! Which is impossible in my mind. I only ship through Etsy and it would have to be the error of the customer entering the wrong address right? WRONG. I immediately went to shipping labels to see and their correct address was already USPS verified for starters. I clicked on "get shipping labels" and it completely changed the house number. There was no way for me to even know! It didn't ask if I wanted to change the address and still said it was USPS verified. I'm sorry but this is ABSOLUTELY a huge Etsy glitch. I've been selling in just this current Etsy shop for 15 years now and I never comment/post in the forums. I only search here for answers. But I had to say something. We have no idea at all how widespread this issue really is or if it has happened to everyone or not. I fear now that it has happened to me before! Nobody is going to remember to double check every address 100% of the time. Especially during the holidays. This is a nightmare in my mind. If they hadn’t left that comment I’d never have even know and I can’t get in touch with them now at all. Which makes me look very unreliable and I’m a Star Seller. This is not acceptable.
