@Fidosflowers @michelleFshop @Iridesent @PrintedLinen @q4novwll and other community managers/leaders:
I’ve been going through an absolute nightmare on Etsy with my bank deposits (my funds have been trapped in my account since March and Etsy’s customer support has been unable / unwilling to figure it out). This all began after the Silicon Valley Bank collapse , when Etsy was forced to change payment processors. I’ve tried multiple bank accounts and multiple banks, so this is not a bank issue. Etsy has successfully verified my bank info each time. Every time I get a notification that my funds have been sent, an hour later the funds get returned saying there has been an issue, please update your bank info. Etsy’s customer support team is baffled.
Does anybody have any contacts within Etsy that might be able to help?
Thanks so much, I’m at the point where I’m afraid I’ll never be able to get my funds out.
Callan
Hello Callan, I'm very sorry to see this. I've shared the details you've provided with a support specialist and asked them to look into this for you. Please keep an eye out for a direct reply via email shortly. Thank you all for offering help and advice! I'll close this up now.
Check to be sure your credit card has NOT expired.
No one on the forums has any way to contact Etsy except through the help pages.
On the shop manager > HELP > CONTACT US > pick a close topic. You may only get an option to send Etsy a message.
You might get the message option and a chat option and you might get a call back option.
Keep replying to that 1st email you get that you STILL NEED HELP.
They're NOT an Etsy phone # or email to contact them. Any you find on google are fake.
Thanks for the reply, I can confirm that the credit card is (and always has been) valid.
I’ve spent hours on the phone with Etsy support and it always ends the same way- they say we need to send this issue to our “technical team” , and then I get a robotic reply from the technical team that I should update my bank account and try again. I can’t even describe how exasperating this has been, after trying multiple banks, this is 100% not a bank issue, I think there is an issue with the way my store is linked to the payment processor.
I'd double check to make sure the expiration date is still good.
ETA: Glad you double checked the expiry date. So at least that rules that out.
Every time you change banking info, there's a 5 day hold on your funds.
I kind of doubt the SV problem had anything to do with you not getting deposits.
If it did, you'd see a LOT of posts on these forums.
@blademade
ETA: sorry you're going through this. I'd be more than pissed that it's been this long and Etsy can't figure out the problem.
When you've changed banking info, did you get the small deposits to verify the bank account is yours?
If so, that should show Etsy that there's nothing wrong with your bank.
If Etsy can deposit a small amount of money into your account to verify it, they can deposit your funds into your account too.
I can confirm my credit card expiry is February 2025, if I could upload a screenshot I would
I used to get the small deposit in the early days of me being on Etsy, but over the last year or so I’ve been asked to provide a bank statement (which always gets verified and approved) I’m in Canada so I’m curious if there is something that doesn’t allow us to get the small deposits.
the part that really gets me is that I’ve tried this with multiple financial institutions, so that eliminates this being a bank problem. Each bank has had their technical team look into their systems and they’ve all reported no transaction attempts by Etsy. So it’s not even a case of transactions being refused, there is no transaction for them to refuse!
If there is a bright side, it is that the money is being returned to your Etsy account. I had a deposit go missing a year ago, it is still missing. You will have to keep on with Etsy. They need to escalate this to the financial team which specializes in this. That is not phone or chat support, they have to send it on and correspondence will be done through email and messages on Etsy.
Haha I suppose that is an optimistic way of looking at it, sorry to hear about your issue, that’s just staggering.
i just don’t see how I can get the attention of the financial team, Etsy’s customer support funnel is extremely opaque and I’ve tried dozens of times with different strategies.
I would stop changing banks as that is probably sending you back to square one each time. So sorry. This lack of support is beyond unacceptable. Maybe a letter from a lawyer would grease the wheels? They can't just hold your money for 9 months and refuse to help.
My lawyer sent a message to their legal department and incredibly, it was redirected back to the standard Etsy support staff with a recommendation to update my bank info! I hope other don’t need to go through this because it’s really been an eye opening experience going up against a company that has walled itself off so dramatically
I was thinking to have a lawyer send a letter stating that since payment has not been deposited in over 6 months, then they need to write a check for the balance due in the account.
However, I would think that would only work if the shop was closed and not accepting new orders, as any new orders would adjust that amount, as well as any possible relisting fees.
Also, why would you still have the shop open and accepting orders if you haven't been paid for so long? Just general curiosity, I couldn't imaging continuing to accept orders knowing I had no way to get paid for them.
When you get that message reply just keep replying "I still need help". Otherwise they close that ticket and you are essentually starting all over again each time. You are at the beginning only talking to bots. If you keep replying "I still need help" on the original ticket eventually it will get kicked up to a human.
And as above above==perhaps you need a lawyer to send a letter
I’ve attempted this method and they eventually just stop responding (trust me over 9 months I’ve had plenty of time to try different approaches)
@blademade Hi, I don't know if this is anything similar to your situation (it may not). But here is a Thread from March. Some Sellers had Returned Deposits due to a coding error on Etsy's part (coding it as checking instead of savings and vice versa). Admin thatregina took care of some of the issues (scroll to the last page as well). I really hope something will help.

I absolutely did see that thread and I really think that’s what is happening here. It seems at the time, certain people actually had technical staff going in to the coding of their shop and finding an anomaly (something to the effect of Etsy sending a transaction coded for "saving account" when it should be "chequing account". Apparently it was happening frequently enough that they stopped doing it for people. It’s possible that they made a system update that fixed it for most people, but it seems I fell through the cracks somehow?
@blademade (Oh shoot, just noticed). On your top post, where you "atted" some Admins, notice there is no line under their names (which means they won't see a Notification for this Thread). I "atted" you in this Thread; notice there is a line under your name.
When you type the Admin Names, a menu drop down menu should appear, where you can select their Name. It will then place a line under it, and they will see a "1" above the Forum Notification Bell.
Hope this helps; sorry I didn't notice this before.
Unless they're like me and they can't '@' anyone.
@audreytherese It's weird, for some people (like you just now), as I'm typing your name, the menu showed up and I selected you. But for some reason, there have been times when I type the name and get to the very end, and no menu comes up with that person on it. But if I put a Return after typing the full name, the line will appear. It's fickle and I can never figure it out:)
I've tried on multiple computers, multiple browsers. No menu has ever appeared. I hear sometimes you have to type fairly fast, but I'm actually a really fast typer, so I don't believe that's the issue. There's something in my account that won't let me. The only time I can is if someone else tagged someone, I can copy and paste it.
Thanks so much @chillwolfart I don't seem to be getting the little menu option? Where would I see that when I type @FidosFlowers for example?
You may have the same issue with your account that I have. I've only seen a handful of shops state that they also couldn't tag anyone, we never get the menu to appear to choose the name from.
@blademade For some people, I get it, and for others I don't (even after typing their full name). In that case, if I put a Return after typing the Name, it will put a line under it and do the same as the menu.
______________
Would you like me to "at" Admin thatregina for you? Say the word and I will (I have no connections), but she was the Admin from that Thread that I gave you the link to. Maybe she could help.
Would somebody with the ability to tag,be able to add the following people to this thread? thanks so much
If they can't help by reaching in to an Etsy manager or executive then I don't know what other options I have left
@Fidosflowers @michelleFshop @Iridesent @PrintedLinen @q4novwll
absolutely! @thatregina and everybody else hahahhah !!!
Thanks so much! I want this case on the executives' desk at Etsy on Monday morning!
OK, I will do it (I can't get all of them; I think they cut you off after 4 or 5 "ats").
