This just happened to me, now going on day 3. I am so upset. I have sent countless emails, finally received a call back and I explained the "pending verification" under legal tax information is preventing me from editing anything. The bad part is, no information has changed in two years. The guy said to give it 24 to 48 hours and I should be able to go in and edit tax information. Well, it's 72 hours later, nothing. I can't get through any Etsy Help platforms to request a call back. How can they get away with this? I am a star seller, many items, repeat customers are messaging asking where my items are...what do I do? Please help....
@Geek2Geek@AdelinasAntiques This is a 2 part issue. The 1st part is getting your shop verified so etsy knows it is actually you they are dealing with. When your shop was first frozen you should have received an email stating your shop has been frozen with directions on uploading your drivers license. Do what etsy is requesting. Once this happens it will take (for me 8 to 10 hours) for etsy to verify your shop. Now go to the "Accept as Solution" under the Originating Thread and follow what it says. DO NOT do this before your shop has been verified.
I can't do what they want me to, they want me to update my legal name (although it hasn't changed) under legal tax information. It will not let me edit this because it states "pending verification", and there is no edit button. The Etsy guy told me to wait 24 to 48 hours and it should allow me to edit, but here it is 3 days later.
So when I updated my taxpayer ID and uploaded my DL the trust and safety team responded by accusing me of selling my account. "Etsy accounts are not transferable and we're unable to accommodate your request. " Basically they've added my wife under her maiden name to the account despite me not opening the shop till after we were married and my name and SSN info being used for 11 years. Despite telling them this, sending our marriage certificate both our DL and tax forms sent from etsy to me they still wouldn't understand that they added her name to the account erroneously. So we then put her name and SSN into the form and now it says pending and there is still no update.
I was forced to either select etsy pay or paypal before I could mail my order. This was right before they closed my shop for ID problems. I had used my shop name instead of mine.
They didnt let you update the name? Last year they made us match name on checking account my checking account is in my business name. Now they want it in our Full Name matching the DL.
Well, my shop was restored, but I still have a large yellow banner on my dashboard saying I need to verify my name. I've now uploaded my driver's license four times over the past five days, yet it still says "pending verification."
I also received an email response three days after I initially contacted Etsy. It confirmed that my store had been successfully restored and included an apology. However, the email was riddled with grammatical errors and misspellings, so much so that I couldn't really understand what they were trying to blame the error on. They mentioned something about the "privacy of our member," "your privacy matters a lot to us," and this being "the reason behind the same."
While we don’t get a great deal of traffic these days because I focus more on my official website, and the shop needs a major overhaul, this has completely tanked my shop. I have zero views today.
It is absolutely appalling that Etsy admin did not step into the thread. It’s a spaghetti code glitch on their end that completely shut shops down... arguably the worst glitch possible.
@TitaniumRingsStudio I could not agree more. This whole thing could and should have have been avoided. I am so disgusted with what etsy did, the fact they covered it up and how they have gone about trying (not really) to fix it!
My shop was verified but still suspended. So IDK whats going on. Now, they asked for a clear picture of my DL. So I did but the one I sent earlier was ok. This is so frustrating. Someone suggested to do chat but no one answered when I tried chat.
Day 6 - 800+ listings still gone. Countless phone calls with “Etsy support”. Each time claiming an “Etsy specialist” will look into the issue - and never resolved. At this point I’m just being talked into circles. I’m surprised I haven’t had a heart attack yet.
I feel the same way; I look at my large inventory and want to cry. I am going to let it be for several days, if nothing is repaired by Wednesday, I am going to shut it down and go to Ruby Lane. Starting completely over, but I am thankful for a place that is strictly vintage/antique. First thing Monday I am going to call Ruby Lane and see how their customer service is.
Where can we post to get Help? My account too is locked/suspended. It was verified and the ETSY Rep told me to match the name on my DL so I redid that and uploaded my DL. Im still waiting. My listings are inactive. I was able to activate some listings I had that were not active. But they still have my account locked cant get any orders. This is so frustrating. If they could send us an example of what we are supposed to do or even a heads up like they did in the past. But just to lock our accounts is awful. I had to buy my postage on pirateship to ship my orders. But cant get new orders. I have used this time to update some listings and will find another places to sell my items. Etsy is too unpredictable. Ive earned all the badges, was getting more orders. Now its all lost and will take Months to build up the traffic again.
I would do a chat (not a phone convo) and specifically ask for a ticket number. It usually takes a day or two for them to get it fixed. Every time you re-contact them, it resets / restarts the clock, so to speak. So contact them on chat, tell them about the issue and that you haven't had sales for (x number of) days, request a ticket, ask for an estimated time for your shop to be functional again.
Kathy, I looked at your shop, the knobs are so great! Have you thought about your own website? It would do well since you have a great niche, and everyone uses these!
I did send an email to the Etsy CEO, J Silverman, doubtful he will receive, even look at it. I have a sour taste in my mouth now that this has happened. I am going to work towards going to Ruby Lane for my antiques. Keep us posted if you get your shop back. I will do the same.
Cutting my losses and re-lisiting over 800 items. I must have spoken to every "etsy specialist" in Southeast Asia. Best of luck to everyone else who has gone through this. Shame on Etsy for not addressing the issue.
@ScrantonAntique, I've been reading through this stuff quickly, because (yay) I finally got my items reactivated and I'm playing catchup now. So I could well have missed stuff. But...at any point did Etsy say your information was verified? But then wouldn't relist your items - or whoever you talked to couldn't figure how to make that happen? That was my situation.
When I re-submitted my picture ID (4th time or something!) I updated my Legal Shop Information / Taxpayer ID / Full Name - by adding my middle initial, even though there was no provision for it and they had told me it didn't matter. But that initial was on my SSN documents and I should've realized earlier - I got some lovely tips from Fabricfetich... anyway once I did that, I had to get re-verified (because I had made a "name change"). But surprisingly, it was quick that time... and my items magically reappeared.
I'm not saying the same will work for you - but it might be worth looking at stuff like that? I have some idea how frustrating all this is!
Fortunately I listened to some people here And it was simple, once I realized that "yeah, they don't have a spot for middle initial but that doesn't mean I can't add one!") (Just a little slow on the uptake sometimes....)
