Error Message - Confirm your seller info within 7 days to keep getting paid

We got the email from Etsy today "You’ll need to confirm your seller info within 10 days".  It looks like our account was missing a phone number and my name was entered with first name/last name on the same line.  I uploaded the required documents as it made me do a name change.  However, every time we try to submit, we get this message:

There was an error saving your taxpayer information. Please try again.

I saw there were many threads about this months ago, but I'm wondering if anyone got this solved and how?  The countdown has begun and we're really worried.

You are not required to add a phone number in your account. I never did. Taxpayer info usually just means entering your SSN. Are you sure it was from Etsy and not a scam?

i had to add my phone number a few weeks ago.

etsy asked me to verify that all the tax info was correct and i could not click *save* until my phone number was added.

it was high-lighted in red.

definitely not a scam.

this is legit.  Etsy is requiring a valid phone number to be entered. 

There is a big yellow banner on the dashboard.

Me too - Info hasn't changed in the 12 years that I have been on here. Really freaking out and hoping it's a horrible glitch with everyone trying to update at once.

@ShopClementine: Based on past issues, it may be something as simple as the format of the phone number (i.e. 123-456-7890 vs 1234567890 vs country code + phone number, etc). We don't yet see this field so don't know what they are looking for.

I'm trying to add my phone number and there is a little wheel spinning continuously over the submit button and it has yet to let me complete the form.

(F.Y.I. I don't have that Yellow Banner you guys are referring to. Also, my Phone No. is on my information).

I went into Finances > Legal & Tax Info. At the bottom of my information, it shows my Address, followed by my Phone No. on the last line.

Sounds like it's a change that's getting rolled out. I have not yet received the yellow banner and just checked my legal and tax info page, there is not anywhere for me to even enter a number (yet).

I checked the entire Etsy site to contact them about this ridiculous issue, and nothing!  Whenever I press the "contact us" button, it just circles around to the "are you a buyer or seller" options.  This has been the most painful thing I've ever experienced, just short of my open heart surgery!  All I want to do is open my friggin shop!  I wouldn't think any company would want to make it this hard from the sellers on their platform to make money so in turn they could actually keep their platform thriving.  Maybe they're in self destruct mode, who knows.

Etsy is claiming this is for the INFORM act. I also have the yellow banner and the only info missing is the phone number. When I try to add the phone number I get an error message saying to try again later. Well I have 7 days before you vacation mode me! Support as useful as ever, told me to wait 3-5 days to get an e-mail back from a specialized department.

Always nice to not be alone.   Same exact issue - all info is up to date but phone number is missing.  Contacted support via chat and they say they will respond with an email.  I suggest everyone start a chat or email etsy support so they fix whatever this dumb bug is.

Please tell me how to get to the chat or email support?  I just can't seem to find it anywhere, it just keeps taking me in a big circle when I click on the "Contact us" button.

I am having the same issue and just got off chat with Etsy, this what they said "I've checked the situation here and it looks like you’re experiencing an issue that our engineering team is aware of and currently looking into. To help with this, I’ve added all of the details from this ticket to their ongoing investigation so they have more information to work with. Please be assured that the problem is already under review at the moment. You'll receive an update via email once it's fixed or once our engineering team has more info to share. "

Going through the "learn more" link to edit info and add my phone number worked for me. But you still then need to go back to the verify your info process in the shop manager where you click through and say, yes this is correct.

O.k, I found a work around that did work.  Don't use the link in the yellow banner.  Instead go to "Finance", "Legal and Tax Info".  From there I selected "Edit" in the "Legal Shop Information" field and it let me add the phone number and submit it there.  Hope that makes sense.
