I was in the middle of a chat with an actual person (which was shocking)...got disconnected. I cannot get back into talking to someone without providing financial information....why??? I want to ask a simple question and I cannot connect with anyone without putting in my bank info?? My questions has NOTHING to do with finances, why is Etsy for this information just to talk to someone?

Make darn sure you are speaking with etsy and that the chat is on the platform, not something you googled and clicked on a link (offsite). Too many scams people are getting caught up in. There should be specific fields where you enter the information and I would be circumspect to give any 'etsy rep' your financial information over chat - you don't know who you are speaking with. I suspect you may be in a scam site.
This does not sound right. Etsy made some changes to Chat a while ago (I honestly don't know if this was one of them). But surely they don't need your financial information. There are scammers who have created fake Chats.
Giving you a Bump.
I have used chat a few times and they never asked for any info from me.
likewise ... if I was asked for financial info, I'd have to assume I had stumbled onto a scam site.
Did you click on chat via your dashboard? I once had Etsy ask me to confirm the last 4 digits of my bank account attached to the account on file to confirm I was ME, but they are never going to ask for all your banking info.
DO NOT DO THAT, it is a scam!
Did they start the chat or did you? Anytime someone else contacts you make sure not to give them any information but, in this case, you contact Etsy and explain what happened.
I just got a phone call from “Amazon” checking on an order I placed yesterday. First clue was the back ground was so noisy I could hear at least 5 other callers talking. I would hope Amazon had a little better protection than putting everyone in 1 room where the calls could be overheard. Second clue was they called me Kathrine, which I only use for legal matters that I have no choice in.
Is there anyone that has not had a scam tried on them in the last weeks?
