Can I get rid of the pop-up for leaving a review?

Hello,

Is there a way to get rid of the pop-up from Etsy to leave a review for an item I purchased about a month ago? I was a bit disappointed in the item, a necklace, because the small natural gem stone had no sparkle as shown in the photo of it. All of the reviews are 5 stars with a very positive note. I never leave bad reviews because I don’t want to ruin the shop’s perfect score, I rather not say anything. I know how upset I’d be with a less than perfect review. But the pop-up is annoying!

Thanks for any thoughts on this.

You just have to wait it out.

What's the purpose of leaving reviews if they are not honest?  That you were a bit disappointed in the of the quality of the stone I think you should mention it.  Obviously, you don't want to completely tank the seller, but, remember 4 stars is still considered a good review.

I just don’t want to be the one to ruin their perfect score.

@lloBelleDesign I'm the same as you, I have never left anyone a bad review I just don't leave one if I am unhappy.

The only way to get rid of the pop up is to leave a review though so you could just say "Received with thanks" or something similar.

How about leaving only a positive about the transaction, like received on time or item was packaged well, and leave it at that. You would simply be pointing out the positives of your experience, and the 5 stars accompanying the review could represent that.

Unfortunately, you can't do anything to remove the notification.  You just have to wait things out for the review window to close.

Re: Can I get rid of the pop-up for leaving a review?

i don't know of a way to turn the pop ups off without surrendering to their demands .....

practically speaking, there are a couple of options to get them to stop that might work

•you might leave 4 or 5 stars, along with an honest review of the experience. i got a 4 a few weeks ago and my star seller thing still says 'perfect score' so i don't think an isolated 4 has an impact.

•or if you don't want to actually review the experience, i think if you do it from the mobile app, you don't have to write anything with the star rating

Re: Can I get rid of the pop-up for leaving a review?

The colorful little dot reminder (by the notifications/shop manager icons) stays there until after the review window passes.

My experience is the pop-ups reminding you to leave a review start out as extremely pesky, slowing to every-once-in-a-while, then pesky again as those final days to leave a review draw close. There are Etsy email reminders too, from time to time.

The emails are easily trashed, and at least for the moment, clicking "close" on the pop-ups does get rid of them. At least these pop-ups don't follow you around throughout the day, appearing anywhere & everywhere Etsy.

Re: Can I get rid of the pop-up for leaving a review?

I turned off notifications on the buyer app so at least the orange dot doesn't show and annoy me.

I'm stuck with the orange dot on my laptop (site browser)

I don't see a pop-up to review while Im shopping thank goodness, but I get every other imaginable pop-up, even one that says to buy something in my cart that was removed bc the shop closed. I still get that one whenever my cart is empty.

I also don't leave less than 5 stars; I just let it expire.

If you leave a review and say Etsy pestered, annoyed and goaded you into leaving it, the buyer can sometimes get it removed.  Doesn't always work, but it sends Etsy the message that buyers hate to be annoyed.

Re: Can I get rid of the pop-up for leaving a review?

I'm annoyed at this as well.  In my case, I purchased items as condolence gifts to recipients I do not know. Since I did not, or do not expect to get feedback from them regarding the gift, I'm not able to post a review.  It has been over 2 months and the notifications pop-ups are still there.  At the very least, there should be an option for "unable to review" or "review not applicable".

What is the “review window?” I hope I’m not going to get corrected for commenting in an old post, but I don’t think I should start a new one.

Approximately 100 days from when the review window opens.  Go to #3 below.

Re: Can I get rid of the pop-up for leaving a review?

How long does it take for the review window to expire? It's been three months since the purchase, and that review notification is still there. (FWIW, I reviewed the main purchase, a brooch, but the hardware had to be ordered as a separate item in the purchase, and Etsy has a notification for me to review the pin also. I'm not going to review the pin). Honestly I don't know if I'll ever purchase anything on Etsy again because I find the never-ending review notification so annoying.

Re: Can I get rid of the pop-up for leaving a review?

I agree wholeheartedly. All these pesky harassing notifications should have the option to be turned off easily. Much like trying to figure out how get an actual human being to respond to a query, Etsy insists on wasting their clients time at every turn. That is in addition to gouging on fees. Some enterprising individual with cash needs to step in and give both Etsy and Ruby Lane a run for their money— start a new platform, artist-focused and with more reasonable fees.

Re: Can I get rid of the pop-up for leaving a review?

@lloBelleDesign   There is no point in having a review system if no one will leave an honest review, unless it's wonderful.  A less than perfect review can let the seller know there is a problem with the item, and perhaps correct it.  If they don't know, they will continue to sell the same thing, thinking it must be fine.  Of course, we all know there are some people who leave totally unjustified bad reviews, but most savvy buyers can see through that stuff.  If you want to get rid of the pop up, leave an honest review.

Re: Can I get rid of the pop-up for leaving a review?

I would message the seller first and give them a chance to correct the problem, or at least make them aware of something that other buyers too, might be put off by. I wouldn’t think of leaving a negative review publicly unless the seller was nasty and basically told me to get lost. Thankfully, that has never happened. Haha

Re: Can I get rid of the pop-up for leaving a review?

I got a 4-star review the other day that complained that the set of cards she bought was too expensive. It didn't affect my star rating but more importantly, it made me wonder why she bought them. *shrug*

Re: Can I get rid of the pop-up for leaving a review?

I had one mention that shipping was expensive for a small item, but she bought the item regardless knowing what the shipping price was.  When a buyer purchases outside of their country, they should expect to pay more.

PiecesOfMe, she may have been my customer last month, saying that same thing about my cards? Hmmm

Re: Can I get rid of the pop-up for leaving a review?

You get to rank your purchases on item quality, shipping, and customer service.  Each of those get a star ranking, though I have no idea how Etsy actually puts that information to use, given that you still give an overall star rating for the transaction.  You could feasibly rank the transaction 5 stars even though you were disappointed in the product.  It could look like this: you send a message to the seller and tell them my thing doesn't look the same in person as it did in pictures.  You're disappointed & would like to send it back.  Your seller comes through with a return shipping label, because they feel like it's NAD, and they should make things right.  You ship it back, get refunded quickly, and you're satisfied enough to give them 5 stars for good customer service & communication.  Alternatively, you can reduce the ranking you'd normally give the item because it wasn't as high quality as the images made it look.  Unless this happens to the seller all the time, it's unlikely to do any damage.  It could cause them to lose the star seller badge, but they would have more than just one 4 star rating for that to happen--it takes a few.  Everyone gets 4 star ratings once in a while.
