I happened to read my copy of the shipping notification sent to my buyer today, and it reads in the middle of the notification, as follows:
"This item was part of a purchase from multiple shops" and then below that it has a button which reads, "View purchase history". This button then sends the buyer to a list of MY purchases from Etsy! For one thing, this item was not purchased on Etsy (I do not buy items on Etsy and then sell them). Additionally, this is private seller information and should NEVER be provided to a buyer. It definitely is part of Etsy's shipping notification to buyer (right in the middle of the notification), and of which I received a copy.
I tried to use the chat help feature, but they want me to share a screen shot, and I cannot figure out how to do that. The chat help people do not seem to have access to our shop so they can investigate on their own.
@ClearwaterAntiques, hover over the button in the email to see the url - does it say something like etsy.com/your/purchases? If so, it will open the purchase page of the specific user who clicks the button (i.e., *your* purchases, if you are the one who clicks); similarly, if your buyer clicks, they will see *their* purchases, not yours. That's what the /your/ in the url will do.
@BlackSheepDyeworks That's what I was trying to explain, too. Your explanation is easier to understand!
Oh my gosh, yes - it does have the wording "your purchases" in the link when I hover. What a genius you are! And thank you so much for taking the time to answer!

@ClearwaterAntiques You really need to contact Etsy directly about this, either through email or a phone callback. Chat is not equipped to handle issues like this. Posting here in Forums will not get you help. This section, like the rest of forums, is only peer support from other sellers.
It's possible that the button for the buyer actually does link to THEIR own purchases, and you got linked to your purchases because it links to the purchases page of the Etsy user who clicks on it (which is how links generally work). Unfortunately, the only way you could know that is to ask the buyer, which you certainly wouldn't want to do. But I do understand why you would want an answer from Etsy about why that happened.
Thank you. Sorry if I posted in the wrong place!

I literally just had the same question, so thank you all for asking and answering! To be honest, it's kind of an odd thing to put in a shipping notification email 🤷.
I agree.
I think there's an additional annoying issue with then notifications.
When I receive my copy, after closing an order, what I see at the bottom are promo pictures from OTHER VENDORS who compete with me. That's not a favor for me, as it pushes MY buyer to look at other shops !!! Actually, I resent this instruction a lot !!!
