Made to Order Digital Downloads

Has anyone else run into issues with their Star Seller metrics because of digital files suddenly (starting in July) being marked as No Tracking?

My digital files are listed as Physical items, because Etsy had me do that initially since they are custom and can not be automatically downloaded. I never had any issues marking them as completed.  I would simply click on Other instead of a carrier like USPS, and then I would type ORDER EMAILED.  For the tracking number I would put the date.  Etsy was accepting this and my Star Seller metrics were near perfect for the shipping/tracking metric.

In July, I have noticed that now they are counting all of these orders as having NO TRACKING and it is affecting my Star Seller metrics.  However, not all of the orders seem to be showing NO TRACKING.  I am sometimes offered a drop down menu under Tracking that asks if it is a digital item.I can click on that, and those orders are fine.  BUT... I am NOT always given that option.  So far no one at Etsy has been able to tell me why I don't see this option every time?  

I was just told to change all my listings to Made To Order digital listings.  BUT... if I do that I will lose ALL the variations... as you can not have variations with a made to order digital listing.

I am beyond frustrated trying to figure this out, and just wondering if anyone else is having issues with this?

I'm having the same issue and I'm in reserve. I have had my store for 5 years with no issue. I sell book covers to romance authors and I need to have variations: ebook or ebook/paperback. I can't offer without those and requiring people to check out separately would be such a pain as I have so many listings going at a time. Currently I have 94 listings. 

I love that Etsy has halfheartedly listened to it's digital sellers and offered the custom option but there's no reason why they can't allow for variations. There's no difference here. Would make much more sense to add that feature.

Have you been able to pinpoint a difference in the listings that may identify when you get the digital tracking option?

has anyone found a way around this? today I noticed sellers listing digital items as physical items...
