ditto....they are spending all this money on the stimulus bill to supposedly stimulate the economy, while at the same time they are punching it in the gut with their CPSIA law.
This last election has turned me fromn a Republican into a Libertarian too. I think they are all fools.
ArtisansGifts ArtisansGifts says: I personally believe Pelosi and all House AND Senate Members have either been STRAIGHT OUT LIED TO, MISLEAD or in the pocket of big Business/Lobbyist!!!!!!!
When the CPSIA LAW was being debated and passed, they were told by the Large Corporations that it would not be difficult or nor expensive to comply with this new law and anyone who argues against the law would be doing it for selfish reasons.
Lobbyist and or Consumer Groups Lied when they gave documents and testimonies on how little impact this would have on small/micro business and cottage industries.
They told congress to ignore the lies that would begin to appear as small business manufacturers and shop owners began to yell as they learned that they too would have to comply with the new law.
They probably told Congress the only reason people would object to this new law is because of GREED AND NOT CARING ABOUT THE SAFETY OF CHILDREN....
Painting small business manufacturers and shop owners that disagree with this law as Evil, Greedy and Selfish People who don't care about the Welfare of Children.
The also probably mention the law against lead is already active in California. And Californians have no problem complying with their law and by making this a Federal Law, it would be good for the Nation and the safety for all children.
They just didn't explain to Congress that CPSIA LAW is not the same law that is being enforced in California.
One of the things different is that Californians were allowed to test their own stuff at home using an inexpensive lead test kit that is sold in most hardware stores and over the internet. This option is not allowed with this new law. Also the California restrictions are not as all encompassing and harsh/difficult to deal with. Another this that was added was the Phylates(?) testing and permanent labeling of all children items.
This is my personal opinion as one of the reasons why the Congress men and women are refusing to listen to commonsense... The keep remembering the cry of: SAVE THE CHILDREN...... ------------ ITA!
