I just heard Rush talking about the CPSIA. I don't think he mentioned it by name, but he was talking about the children's motorbikes that will be pulled because of lead in the engines, and mentioned library books. Still listening.
Let's stay focused, folks. (1) Get the regulations that CPSC will eventually develop to accommodate and/or exempt the small businesses most jeopardized with the least basis in reason; and (2) get those who not only voted for this bill but continued to support it when presented with the harm it will do voted out of office. Everything else can wait. This kind of political division is unnecessary when, whether one is conservative or liberal, there is common agreement that this law has got to be fixed.
Just because you aren't listening to NPR, and you don't hear the story on NPR, doesn't mean NPR isn't covering it.
I've been on the local NPR twice, and been asked it they can call me back periodically for updates. (So I'm working hard at staying on top of things.)
However, I would also like to add that the local NPR people who talked to me, seem to have made a significant effort to do some research BEFORE they called me. So they KNEW what to ask... rather than just hope I hit on every facet of what I needed to say.
Has Martha Stewart done anything on her show about what this will do to crafters? I know she is a big supporter of etsy. She should be concerned that a lot of folks will be out of business on here if this thing goes through as planned.
I'm glad Rush covered this at least by taking a call from someone who will be affected. I'd like to see Martha do at least a clip about it.
