In Word you can enter any size font. Just click on the font size window, it will turn blue, then type in the size you want and hit enter.

go to avery.com and use the design and print online option, they offer a smaller font than 8.

Re: What program do you use for small print

Is there a special ink to make your own labels?

Re: What program do you use for small print

I'm not sure if there is a special ink. It's worth a trial run though. I got my labels amde up in word, and saved the file so I can just bring it up and print it when I need to. I'm going to try and heat set it first, then try washing them. So we'll see if it works with mine.

Re: What program do you use for small print

I wonder if we could just say remove label before washing? Most people take them off anyway. Let us know how it goes :)

Re: What program do you use for small print

What kind of fabric is best to use to make labels? I printed some off on the canvas cloth that I got at Office Depot and they seem to be too stiff.

Re: What program do you use for small print

I have discovered "bubble jet set" for making the ink permanent on fabrics. Has anyone tried this stuff.

Also, here's a helpful link for preparing your fabric to go through your printer. I haven't tried this either!

Re: What program do you use for small print

To answer the OP, in Word, you can type everything into your document at 8pt. Then, select it. On the tool bar on mine (Word 2007), next to the size of the font, there are icons to click on to shrink or enlarge the font. I think I've shrunk mine down to a 4 or 5 for my labels.

Hope this helps!

Re: What program do you use for small print

I use "Bubble Jet Set" all the time. I am not sure that it is acceptable now for children's items. The important things about using Bubble Jet Set is to use 100% natural fabrics (cotton, silk, linen, etc) and to make sure to wash fabric first before using the Bubble Jet Set.

Re: What program do you use for small print

I found cotton label printing packages at Michaels craft store. And heat does make the color set. No steam and cover before ironing. I didnt make my labels yet but have used the cotton printing paper on something else it worked out.

I use Adobe Illustrator, you can do whatever you want with it - labels, graphics, drawings... All sizes, of course.
