I just heard Rush talking about the CPSIA. I don't think he mentioned it by name, but he was talking about the children's motorbikes that will be pulled because of lead in the engines, and mentioned library books. Still listening.

There's a business owner on right now talking about it. But they are talking about dirt bikes! Who cares? Rush is saying it's a boon for the tort lawyers. True, I can see all the parents of kids-who-licked-motorbike-parts lining up for money. :-/ The caller is saying that there was a rush to pass it because it was "for the children". I agree.

I'm emailing Rush to thank him for covering CPSIA and giving some more "real life" examples...I think we all should email him and maybe he'll cover the other aspects of the CPSIA-- he seemed in disbelief about the pre-1985 books-- and the caller didn't get into the testing costs...His email address is ElRushbo@eibnet.com.

So sad that you would say "who cares" about a dirt bikes... more people have bikes than care about art or hair bows or baby booties...they could just say "who cares about that..." we should care about every business that takes a hit from this law... it affects us all..

i agree... we need to support all businesses affected by this, because it affects us all the same. we might sell different things, but the result is similar.

Anyone who didn't know any better and was listening to this would have thought, by the way Rush Limbaugh described it, that a provision regulating the amount of lead in dirt bikes to be used by children was part of the latest stimulus package. The only person who made it clear that the CPSIA was not part of the stimulus was the first caller who termed it the "CPSIA of 2008."

Now why would Rush have done that?

It was passed by a Democratic controlled congress and signed by a Republican president...lots of blame to go around!!

Right on. And to add to that, the bill was sponsored by 4 Democrats. The proposed amendment that could help save our business is supported by 4 Republicans.

And like the current stimulus bill....it appears the CPSIA one wasn't read by those who voted on it either. And that one wasn't even close to being as long as the stimulus plan. Maybe none of the things that get voted on actually get read, regardless of the lengthe or how long they had to review them.

Exactly. That's why I make it a point to listen to both parties on important issues. It is completely naive to rely on your own party for all your information--it will always be bias. I give no loyalty to either party and have crossed party lines on many occasions.

I'm unimpressed with Rush's coverage on CPSIA. It barely put a dent in alerting the public to what they need to know.

Rush has millions of people listening to him for 3 hours every day. So even though he did not cover the lead issue as thoroughly as we may have liked, at least he devoted about 5 minutes to two parts of the CPSIA issue.

In the next year it will take much more exposure to educate the public about this over reaching government intrusion, and any help from any radio host, TV host, or newspaper columnist, should be greatly appreciated.

Yes, Rush has god-zillions of listeners! So good to hear him talking about this subject.
