I just heard Rush talking about the CPSIA. I don't think he mentioned it by name, but he was talking about the children's motorbikes that will be pulled because of lead in the engines, and mentioned library books. Still listening.
MondeDesign, I was listening when the "phony soldier" called in so was confused at first when the media started attacking Rush for it, then of course I realized it was a smear campaign and the truth was irrelevant. Thanks for stating what really happened in such a calm and rational way :)
TheMadHatterDesignz said: Plaid fuzz, I am sorry you are filled with so much hate, it is not a healthy thing, as far as the phony soliders, remember it was phony solider, and he explained that for days.
I come from a miliyary family from way way back, I also have family fighting right now, so please don't lay that card, if you don;t like him, ok, but please dont speak for others, Rush is very much for the military and if you would ever listen you would know that __________
Oh, I'm filled with hatred because I disagree with you? LMAO. this type of ideology is going to be VERY effective in turning people completely off of this issue.
kaboogie says: Are we not happy to get attention brought to this from the largest audience on radio? Heck, is it getting any attention on NPR? PBS?
*****
The only reason I even know about CPSIA is because NPR did a piece, a lengthy and involved piece, on it about 2 weeks ago. Much more time devoted to it than Limbaugh did.
I immediately emailed my brother after hearing the NPR piece, just out of incredulousness that this was actually happening, and he asked the obvious question - how on earth is anyone going to enforce this?
All this talk of the Rush show and now the mention of National Public Radio I was just wondering if The Fairness Doctrine is implemented how any talk radio will survive to even have these discussions.(another stupid idea to bring this doctrine back) I just think as long as CPSIA is discussed anywhere it's got to be a good thing because it brings attention to it.
I agree with you gothcrow. To have the CPSIA to be mentioned on either Rush or NPR is great as they both have diverse audiences with lots of listeners. Also agree about the "Censorship Doctrine" as well bad idea IMHO
I, for one, think it's great that both NPR and Rush are covering it. While not a huge fan of Rush per se, his audience presumably covers a different segment of the listening audience than NPR (don't yell at me -- I know there are people who listen to both). The more people who hear about this the better.
Does anyone have a quick link to the NPR story, or is that not on their website?
Plaidfuzz..I think they are jokingly referring to Moonfairy's post, not anything you said!
Begin quote:
I mean, he's generally known as a crazy bigoted idiot. Not exactly a good candidate to make your cause look good. Never a good idea to have such an incredibly hated, mocked, and unpopular person support you
I agree with someone upthread's comment about Rush picking something to focus on that isn't quite so obvious-lead in dirt bikes.
There was some sege into how supposedly our economy is in the dumps, and we supposedly need the stimilus and oh yeah, let's kill small business while we're at it.
(I'm paraphrasing, and the 'supposedly' part is his spin and not necessarily my opinion.)
I'm for anything Rush Limbaugh is against and against anything he's for on principle.
If RL supports something then it means that there is something there that goes against what I believe. Obviously anything he supports furthers his agenda.
Trust me, if he were working to save my business, I'd rethink everything I was doing and so would almost eveyone I know.

____ I was interviewed TWICE by Wisconsin NPR, aired 4 different days, and put on the website.
I think most posters are very happy to know that this is being aired on both the NPR and the Rush Limbaugh show. The more people who are made aware of it the better.

Which brings us back to the MESSAGE-this is getting more and more coverage and we all need to keep the discussion alive and stop trying to shoot the messengers or their helpers! Hopefully someone will be able to get thru on Friday to get more discussion!
Rush DOES reach a LOT of people, and could be an important ally in this...
However, that said, he didn't do a very good job of hitting our concerns or bringing up and running with the particular issues we (the general public of all affiliations) have with this law.
He would have benefited by working from a list of important things that needed to have been brought up.
If his show was my first exposure to the issue, I wouldn't be aware that it affects books, or the neighborhood mom with a home based business, or the grandma making baby blankets to sell at the church bazaar.... I wouldn't know how this will effect the thrift stores or the charities supported by them.
I wouldn't know how this law affects charities like Project Linus or Coats for Kids.
I'd think that it was part of the stimulus and that it only affected specific industries.
