Hi,
I am new to all this and wading through the info because I am thinking of including in my shop some new items I make for children.

Would any of you sellers who have labels, be able to share photos of them? I am curious as to what some of you have done to comply with the CPSIA label regulations.

Thanks!

Re: CPSIA Tracking Label Examples, would you, could you share examples?

well if it's polyester, then it is exempt.

You must know the content of your product. If it's polyester, acrylic, wool, cotton, silk, vinyl, pvc, whatever. Check the labels before you buy, and write it down. Carry a little notebook in your purse, and keep track. You need this info for contacting the manufacturer of the supply, and the price and all the other info you should be keeping track of.

Re: CPSIA Tracking Label Examples, would you, could you share examples?

I print my labels at home, on demand, with my inkjet printer on 100% cotton fabric treated with Bubble Jet Set 2000.

After much research and analysis, I decided to combine all required data in two labels:

My brand label has:
brand
size
"made in" declaration required by FTC
RN number (for FTC and CPSIA tracking)

Second label has:
city, state, country and date of manufacturing (CPSIA tracking)
fiber content for FTC
care instructions on the back

In my case, the date is enough to identify the cohort info required by CPSIA, but if date alone wasn't enough, I have planned to add a smaller piece of fabric behind label #2 with the batch number written with a permanent marker.

Here's a photo:

For those printing their own labels on cotton fabric sheets - do you have any problems with the sides fraying? Do you put something on them?

Re: CPSIA Tracking Label Examples, would you, could you share examples?

Mama Hoot
I fold mine under, but that makes them really thick to sew through. But it looks pretty good. I have to revise mine because I realized that mine don't have all of the info (the date). When I do I will likely have an even bigger label and I am thinking about sewing a stitch down the middle of the sheet of labels and then close to the edge so each piece of the cut out labels has a stitch near the edge that will be cut. I don't know what I will do in terms of color. I might make it green like my print so it looks like I did it on purpose. I will post a pic when I get it done. I am leery of any "coating" I could put on them because of the potential of having to test THAT too.

Re: CPSIA Tracking Label Examples, would you, could you share examples?

I am getting fuzzy at the end of the day. What is RN number? Similar to a batch number? Also, OOAK items are still ok with just a date, right. If everything you make is different, then you don't have batches?

Getting ready to make some new labels for fall tee shirt hats and I want to make sure I am remembering right.

Re: CPSIA Tracking Label Examples, would you, could you share examples?

batch numbers are not needed for OOAK or small numbers of the same item. For most of us batch and lot numbers will never be needed.

An RN is a federal Registered Number for your business. They are available on line for free. You do not need one. I personnaly do not want to give the gov anymore information than is neccessary and absolutely required. If you move you must change that information with them. It is designed to be a permanant number for your business for eternity for government tracking. If you put your web url, or etsy store url, or even your business name, city and state, you should be able to be found by someone.

Re: CPSIA Tracking Label Examples, would you, could you share examples?

You do not need to add the thread. It's not required. You also can leave off the made in before Colorado Springs. That will save you 2 lines. Also, you could just put Pidlittletotshoppe.etsy.com

So I would suggest.

Pidlittletotshoppe.Etsy.com
Colorado Springs, CO
Handmade in the USA
of imported Fabric
100% Cotton
Winter/Spring 2011

Get yourself some woven care labels from North West Tag, some size labels from them also and you are okay to go.
