Translation issues

Hi !

Etsy in Dutch looks really great and the possibility to use Dutch tags is top !

I've found some translation problems, if I'm not clear enough, please let me know :-)

Shop -> the icons for list view / gallery view shows no translation

Feedback (left navigationbar): Posief = Positief

Open a treasury: on the right shows 4 bewonderaar = bewonderaars
(is fan not a better word ?)

Open a treasury: in reaction of owner: Bekijk Elviras = Bekijk Elvira's

Teams (left navigationbar): Subsidie programma is not a good translation of Fellowship program

Jouw shop -> Verkochte bestellingen: 'Klik op dit hulpmiddel om je listings te vernieuwen of te kopiëren' = 'Klik op icoon om '

Jouw shop -> Verkochte bestellingen: mouse-over at X shows 'dismiss'

Factuurinformatie: factuur info -> factuurinfo

Opties -> feature = toepassing

Informatie en opmaak -> Over pagina -> 'Photos will be cropped etc' = no translation

Informatie en opmaak -> Voorwaarden -> Winkelvoorwaarden and text shows different lettertype or size

Informatie en opmaak -> Winkelnaam -> 'Kies verstanding etc': 'casing'

Nieuw Item toevoegen -> 'Bekijk hoe je Engels listing' no translation

Nieuw Item toevoegen -> 'Wat typen kopers etc' = type

Nieuw Item toevoegen -> 'Waarom maar één gelegendheid' = gelegenheid

Openbaar profiel -> 'Sekse' = geslacht

Instellingen -> E-mails -> 'Verwerken van team discussie activiteit' = I don't know what you mean ??

Instellingen -> E-mails -> 'Team samenvattingen' = ??

Just a small one: in the third optional listing categorie, 'souvenit' should be souvenir.

Tags and Materials >
'Add another tag' should be 'Voeg nog 1 tag toe'
instead of 'Voeg 1 meer tag toe'

'Add a maximum of (12 or less) materials.. etc' should be
'Voeg nog maximaal (12 or less) materialen toe die zijn gebruikt in je item'
instead of 'Voeg maximaal 12 meer materialen toe die zijn gebruikt in je item'

Ik zat daar net ook naar te kijken. Ik denk dat het beter is om te zeggen:

Je hebt nog x tags over. Of:
Je kunt nog x tags gebruiken/toevoegen.

Maximaal kan er ook nog wel tussen maar ik vind het overbodig. Hou het simpel en kort!

Zelfde voor materialen uiteraard.

When listing an item it says:
'Er worden $0,20 USD kosten berekend wanneer je Vernieuw deze listing.' Should be 'Er wordt 0,20 USD berekend wanneer je deze listing vernieuwt.'

At the place where you put down your tags it says:
'Elke tag kan niet meer dan 20 karakters lang zijn.' Should be something like 'Een tag kan niet langer zijn dan 20 karakters.'

And I agree with Astrid about the 'Je hebt nog x tags over', that's a better sentence!

Then I would say: Een tag bestaat uit maximaal 20 posities.

The shorter the better. 'Posities' because that makes it clear spaces count too.

Oh and the blue button below here should say Verzenden, not Reageer.

I have to say been browsing through the pages half the afternoon and found so much to improve I don't know where to start.

Vernieuwen van je listing kost 0,20 USD.

I have to explain in Dutch:
Altijd maar die lijdende vorm is een 'fout' die vaak wordt gemaakt bij vertalen en>>nl. Het is natuurlijk wel correct maar als een tekst (of site) er bol van staat wordt het echt heel lijzig lezen.

Helemaal gelijk Astrid! Was even een snelle letterlijke vertaling, had er niet lang over nagedacht. Probeer zelf ook altijd zo min mogelijk lijdende vormen te gebruiken in mijn teksten. Nog een flinke klus voor de Etsy mensen om alles goed te vertalen! Zie nog heel veel letterlijk vertaalde zinnen, heeeeeeel lelijk! Maar daar kunnen we dan hopelijk bij helpen :-)

Hoi allemaal!

Ik ga morgen aan de slag met jullie opmerkingen - een paar heb ik er al op kunnen pakken (de tikfoutjes), maar sommige vragen om wat meer technisch inzicht. Soms is het namelijk zo dat we het Engelse format met bepaalde code moeten volgen en dit vraagt om wat creatievere oplossingen. Dit geldt bijvoorbeeld voor de tags.

En noem vooral alle letterlijk vertaalde zinnen :)

Thanks a lot for all the feedback - this is great stuff!

An organisational point: we really do have a lot of material to go through and we'll end up in a mire trying to do this all in one thread.

For that reason, we created specific threads that correspond to specific flows on the website that we dearly need your help testing:

We would love to get your feedback on these two topic first because we move on to other fields - for the very simple reason that we don't want anything to fall through the cracks.

If you are really itching for a specific topic to get started on, shoot me a note and I'll open a thread with the instructions that will also correspond with the way we structure our work on our side of things - and for that reason, will make it much, much easier to work on all the things you tell us.

Ik heb ondertussen alles wat er te vertalen viel naar nederlands veranderd. Heb nog een vraag over het profiel. Dit heb ik nog in het engels staan als ik nederlands heb aangeklikt onderaan de pagina.
Heb ik iets niet goed gedaan?

moet zijn : 'tags toe'


Vraag : ik heb al mijn items nu apart in nederlands en engels gezet ( ik deed dat sowieso al, maar nu dus apart ) .
maar : waar en hoe kan ik dat doen voor mijn shopvoorwaarden ?

En : worden mijn items nu ook nog op dezelfde manier als voorheen ook in het engels gevonden ?

In Information and appearance / informatie en opmaak vind je een tab translations / vertalingen. Daar kan je al dat soort dingen vertalen.
:) ik heb me lam zitten zoeken voor ik erachter kwam dat ik daar m'n sectienamen kon vertalen....

Ik ga op jacht naar de ontbrekend spaties: is heel irritant, inderdaad, maar in de code heel lastig te zien en/of terug te vinden...

Als tag kan ik bij mijn product in het Nederlands wel '60 invullen, in het Engels wordt de apostrof geweigerd en krijg ik een foutmelding...

I have troubles with the dutch tranlations too.
I use Google tranlate a lot but have to proof read, as the translation is word for word and you get those funny sentences.
I have lived in New Zealand for 40 years and speak only English, so I need a little help with my dutch, but I can still see when a sentence is wrong.

When you have a minute, would you mind posting some examples of sentences are causing you trouble ? I would love to have them checked out and corrected by our translators.
