Any tips for newbie?

I just opened up my shop today! *yay!!!* Ive only had one sale today, but have been busting my butt on promoting my shop through various social media. How many sales can I expect a day? Like most newbies, I expected to just post my shop and wham! Orders flooding in! lol Now Im seeing not quite so. I would love to hear good tips and build friendships =]

That is amazing!

I think wondering how many sales a day (!) you can expect is a bit too optimistic.
And 'promoting your butt' for (part of) one day is a teeny tiny start.

Normally I say: it takes years to build up a successful business, not weeks.
But in your case I'll make it: .... , not minutes.

So, now you want to do a lot of reading and learning.
And then grow your business.
Make a marketing plan.
And promote.

You are a VERY lucky one getting a sale on their first day. I mean, I was even lucky getting one within 2 weeks of opening. You really need to take sales in the beginning with a grain of salt. I'm almost four months into selling on etsy, and I'm almost at 20 sales...not saying that's you by any means :) this is not everybody. Obviously we are selling two different things. I'm selling upcycled vintage and you're selling jewelry. Two COMPLETELY different markets.

I would suggest if you're using that wicker background, make the direction of the wicker all the same way to create cohesion in your shop. A lot of people use white backgrounds (fotofuze.com is really helpful)

I would also highly suggest looking into SEO, the sooner you learn about it, the better for you and for your sales- https://www.etsy.com/help/article/247

I think work on those first, and get more listings as well, and I think you're well on your way to success :)

Wow It took me months to get my first sale. My shop just really took off over the holidays. My advice would be to never give up. It gets tough sometimes to keep pushing but just keep pushing. Also never stop creating. I also always had an issue with realizing that just because I dont like it and wouldnt wear it doesnt mean someone else wont. The one thing I made and didnt like was and so far is my biggest seller. Good Luck and congrats on the sale already!!!

That is great you made a sale the first day so 1st of all Congrats.. Most sellers it could take months for a sale so all I can say is that is GREAT... I just opened my shop March 10th and I have not had any sales but I will keep trying because I am determined... :-) Good Luck with your shop.... :-)
