Disappearing items in treasury

Does anybody know if an item can just disappear from a treasury?

One of my treasuries had a full 16 listings in it. Then after a couple of days I took a look, and two of the items where gone. I don't have an original list of the things I have included, so I cannot track them down.
Do the items "disappear" from the treasury when they are sold - expired - deactivated? Can an owner "recall" her item from the treasury (though I cannot imagine a reason why she would)?

This mystery keeps bugging me...

Items will only 'disappear' from a treasury if they are deleted by the shop owner or have expired or have been deactivated. Basically if they are removed from Etsy.

Sold items still appear in the treasuries.

What a rotten luck - to select two items in one treasury that were about to expire! Now the treasury looks all lopsided.

BTW, can I add new items into an existing and published treasury?

Yes, you can modify a treasury as much as you want.

I think items will also disappear if the shop goes on vacation. I've had that happen before.

no i don´t think vacation mode infuences that because i had treasuries where there was an "on vacation" instead of a price

Thank you for explanation. Now I will go and fix the treasuries where I have "vacancies". It probably does not matter, but my inner perfectionist just won't rest...
