How did you make your first sale?

Hi there Daily Etsy Sellers!

Browsing through the members list of our team and looking at all your lovely shops, I started noticing we are a very diverse group of shop owners. Some of us have been on Etsy for years, others are just starting off and have yet to make their first sale.

Let's start a discussion on making that first sale. We all know it's that one magical moment, just that one sale, we're all eagerly waiting for when just starting out on Etsy.

So let's share!

It doesn't matter whether you only had a couple of sales or hundreds: please share your 'first sale' experience so new shop owners can be inspired.

My first sale was a surprise, I hadn't hopes in etsy and I couldn't believed, I didn't do anything special, but I remember there were 8 sales in bit time.
The funniest of all, shipping was to NYC just where I wish to go.

Really I didn't know what I did, I only know I was months to get a credit card and I couldn't open the store so when I opened I didn't know anything, now I know groups, forums, apps,how relevant is the photo, title and tags

Now I am getting information about marketing

I made my first sale 3 years after joining. I used to just list and not promoting my work. I came to realize my mistake when a friend took a look at my shop.

We opened our shop in 2013 and we waited for a sale for about six weeks when I finally asked a family member who convinced us to open our shop to purchase something! I thought it looked better to buyers to have at least ONE sale :-) ! Anyway, about two weeks later, we had our first, real customer and we were very excited!

Our growth was fairly slow for about 1 1/2 years and then it started to take off. Mainly, I believe, because I kept learning about marketing, SEO tagging and finding products that would sell to my target audience. I went through lots and lots of ideas/items that didn't work out.

Hang in there newbies!! Don't get discouraged - keep learning as much as you can. Your shop will have sales soon and you will be as excited as we were! :-)

It was actually on a different site prior to switching to Etsy. Then slowly but surely, sales began to come in. It's an amazing feeling when someone purchased something created by you. It's like how God gives you a gift and when you use it, it not only blesses you, it's a blessing to the purchaser.

My first sale i made 5 month after i revived my store, it was last year on my birthday.
I didnt made anything special to make my first sale, and yeah, since that last year my sales increased slowly month by month.
