Good morning. I've been skimming to try and catch up.
Wendy, I'm sorry for your loss. I've been thinking about you and your family.
Sue, it sounds like the concert was fun and you are getting around ok on the crutches.
Congrats on the new house, Jaime. I still remember the feeling of owning our first house.
Speaking of new houses, DH has a job offer back in our SC hometown. He is struggling with the decision. We are so comfortable here, but it's a good offer. He would love to retire in 10 years and the extra money would help us get there. Greenville just isn't the same as Charlotte. If he takes it I'm hoping we can wait until spring to put this house up for sale. We have a lot to do to get it ready for the market. It's only 2 hours away so he may get an apartment there for a few months.
I hope things go easily for you Kim. Moving anytime is a big deal but Spring is a better time to show a house IMO.
Congrats on the new house, Jaime! That's exciting:) We're still in the first home we bought 16 years ago. I wish it had a little more room but hey, it's mine!
Hey Laura. Just the whole moving process is one of the hard parts of this decision. We have been in this house 15 years and have accumulated way too much "stuff". I'm trying to start cleaning out, but it's not fun and takes time away from other things I'd rather do. We also hate to leave our friends and I'd have to re-start my tutoring business. So much to think about.
That's tough, Kim. But retiring in 10 years? That sounds very attractive. I know what you mean about "stuff". My DH is sort of a pack rat. I never saw that part of him when we were renters. lol
Greenville is cute- but you're right, it isn't Charlotte. Only 2 hours but friends will try to keep up for a while, then life gets in the way- but you make new friends too. It'll be just fine- especially if he can retire sooner- trust me, retirement is awesome!!
CG, I'm still in all of the scanner too- I'm always amazed- but, I still haven't mastered getting the exact size I want- not ever
I think I know the answer to this but I'm double checking. It's better to deactivate your listings than go in vacation mode, correct? I think I'm going to take my shop down when my mom and sis are here next week. Too much going on to think about getting things shipped if I get a sale.
Laura when I went on vaca I added time to all my shipping dates and put up an announcement. I don't get sales very often. People were able to still see my items. If you get sales frequently deactiving might be better for you.
Morning. Frost, so back to normal weather, except the normal high is 68F, today to be 54F.
Pennee, I scale it in Photoshop. Print the scan of the large drawing, measure the element I am working to the size of in reality and on the print. This was 40mm life and 90mm drawing. So just printed at 44.45% as set in PS image size. Perfect.
Pennee, you are right about the friends. We left lots of very close friends in Greenville and now we hardly ever see them. We are the worst about getting caught up in everyday things and not keeping up. That's something we would have to really work on. Greenville is cute but doesn't have the urban feel of Charlotte. This whole thing feels just like it did 15 years ago when we moved here from there. Life does come full circle sometimes.
At least it's not Greenville, NC. LOL - THAT would be a change. :D I've stopped in Greenville a few times - my step's parents had a place down in Kiawah (I know, right?), and sometimes we'd stop in G-ville for lunch. Nice town. I like smaller, anyway - Charlotte would be too much for me.
Laura - what I do instead of vacation is use Betsi lite app to put a notice in all my listings. That way people can still browse or even buy but know there is a delay.
Laura- I usually leave up my ready to ship and extend the ship times and deactivate made to order. In the 6 years I have had my shop it has never been in vacation mode. Even when I go to Europe for 3 weeks, I can always find an internet cafe to check convos once a day and let them know I'm away and if still interested I will get back to them when I return. My friend Stacy though puts her shop on vacation several times a year for various family things and it has never seemed to harm her sales.
Although I will say that because so many have mobile devices now some do seem to expect an instant reply, as if I have one too. I compensate by living with the computer on except when asleep.

It's especially easy if you're using (linked) shipping profiles.
CG, I see that a lot, too. I've had one or two people get upset because I did not IMMEDIATELY respond to their convos. I'm like, dude, I've got a LIFE outside of Etsy, believe it or not, and I'm not on a phone every minute of the day. I actually LOOK at people.
I do still get way more who surprised that I've replied so quickly. Expectations all over the map. If I'm awake and not in town it's rare that I don't reply within half an hour.
I've got a serial hearter. I think she's on the Etsy Success team. She goes in two or three times a day and hearts two or three items at a time. I know we've had this discussion - who cares? - but if all she's doing is hearting my stuff to get me into her shop, it drives me nuts. I think, hey, someone likes my stuff - awesome! Then I go check, and it's HER.
I've got a supply shop in the UK doing the same thing. He's been doing it so long, he's UNhearting things and rehearting them. ARGH!
I know - first world problem, but I consider it to be rude.
Never pay much attention, I've found no connection between the number of hearts and sales. Only those who are doing it to find the item again and they'll either buy or not buy.
