Your own website

Hello,

I'm thinking to have a website with my own domain name for displaying items, blog, photo etc. What server or platform are you using ? weebly or others? better have checkout function.

Thanks a lot !

Re: Your own website

Hi Sue, Im just doing the same thing my website has been rubbish for years, it seams the standard requirement now to get anyone to "engage" with you is to have a site with video, photos, and a means of collecting their email so you can send out mailshots to those who took the time to apply - gosh it all seams like tedious nonsense away from the bench to me hence me not having bothered for so long. I am currently building a site with wix, its not finished yet but so far it has been very user friendly, and is free to get going. You can pay for extra features - like a domain name and email without the @wix preface, and a wix store, but etsy and facebook buttons are free.
cheers
Quin

Re: Your own website

I have several web sites through iPage.com. I hand-code my web sites. iPage has some site-building tools, but I've never used them. They are cheap, and you can host multiple web sites on one account.

I haven't set up shopping cart / checkout yet; reading up on it, it seems a bit complex. But they do have several shopping cart's available - you have to have a merchant account for credit card processing to connect it up to. For now, I just link it to my Etsy store for selling.

Re: Your own website

Hi Sue,
I set ours up through Yola, which has a free version so you can test drive some features before deciding to go for it. Good value for money and excellent customer service, the odd time I've had a problem they've gone in and sorted it for me. I decided not to use their inbuilt cart as I wanted boutique style individual pages and just have Paypal buttons instead.
