Susan, thought of an old purse, not many of those hanging around here. But even I'd buy a 'real' one. If I could think of a use for me. might be one of those 'build it and they will come' things though.
Heard about them clearing the concert goers out... Wondered if you were there Sue. In different times would have been great to try to hook up. You are less than an hour from me. Right now though I'm about as as fun as a bag of rats.
Doing our best to keep life interesting for D. He is doing well. He has better coping mechanisms than I do. We are wallowing and wading through they very beginnings of the business end of this. Sadly that part is going to be wrenching and it's going to last a long while. FIL just can't do it himself. And nothing I mean NOTHING was taken care of in advance.
I hear ya wendy. when there was no estate planning, it's just hell. good luck. and remember, there's no rush. take your time to grieve. other than the immediate funeral, the rest of the stuff can hopefully wait.
d- NMH was unbelievably great. most are multi-instrumentalists. they were playing every conceivable instrument every conceivable way. including saws, mini-accordians, banjos, horns, all manner of strings. pennee- yeah, i'm doing fine on crutches. they directed me to a place where there is ADA seating. I have awesome seats with a great view in the shady part of the festival (i'm on a big platform above the crowd). everybody else is standing out on the concrete in the beating sun all day with no where to sit. hell, if I knew it was gonna be this good, i'd fall down those steps 3 times over! lol.
That's why I suggested a walker or wheel chair- they take good care of you at those things if you are even slightly disabled- I guess crutches were good enough- heck, hang on to those for future events!
Wendy, don't forget to look after yourself during this time. Eat, drink, sleep, have some me time now and then.
It's great that they gave you a special seat Sue! And I'm glad Cricket is her feisty self. :)
We were just at the theatre and saw Candida by Bernard Shaw. It was okay but the reviews had been raving and I didn't feel it. Guess I'm not the right person for this type of theatre.
Wendy, so sorry about your MIL. I know how hard it is to lose those we love. As someone said, be sure to take care of yourself. Not just for your sake, but for the sake of your family. Missed most of yesterday because of a memorial service. Dear friend's husband who was exactly my age. Gives me the shivers, and makes me check on M every 10 minutes. He's 10 years older.
I am 20 pages behind and skimmed back enough to read about Wendy's loss. I'm so sorry, Wendy.
Congrats to anyone who had sales and if there's anything else I missed would someone please fill me in.
I just got back from my weekend and it was such a spiritual renewal for me. Heard lots of stories from those who have gone through crisis and come out the other side, stayed up way too late talking and laughing, took an early morning walk on the beach Saturday AND I won a 50/50 drawing Friday night. woo hoo!$!$!
Hi All! Just stopping by with a quick torch update. Thanks again for the troubleshooting help. My new Smith kit arrived yesterday, and I got it hooked up today. It fires up and stays lit, no problem. It's also much quieter than the Prest-O-Lite. If I'm reading the gauges correctly, it looks like my tank is about half full.
I'm debating contacting the manufacturer about the Prest-O-Lite or just listing it on ebay with a disclaimer that it may need part replacement. A friend suggested that the manufacturer may be willing to send me a replacement kit, and I could sell that one much easier, and at a better price. I guess it wouldn't hurt to give them a call, and see what they say.
We went to the seafood place and got a pound and a half of local head on shrimp and the produce stand next door for local produce. It was a nice Sunday afternoon field trip.
Dianna - I think your friend has a good idea for the presto lite. Did you get the Smith acetylene/air? I love mine. I use the tip #2 and it's worked for about everything so far.
I'm glad you're having fun, Sue. I knew you'd be treated well as a disabled person. The last time I was in Boothbay Harbor we stayed at a place by the ocean that was supposed to have reserved us a smoke free room. When we complained, they moved us to the only non-smoking room available which was handicap accessible. It was a much bigger room with a gorgeous view and a private parking spot near the door. I felt like a queen there.
So today's work? I ruined a pair of earrings that were almost finished because I couldn't leave well enough alone. Will I ever learn?!
Sue...glad Cricket is still going strong and the concert is going well (with the exception of the lightening storm).
Thanks everyone for the love on the new piece. :) I'm looking forward to finishing it. I think I have an idea for the bail that will use parts of my originally intended bail with a modification.
Everything went well with the equine chiropractor. Dancer received a good report...the areas that I'm feeling the stiffness and unwillingness when I ride were the areas that were out. He seemed much more relaxed after his adjustment and had a bit of a runny nose afterwards. Poor guy, he has been pretty congested lately. Millie received an excellent report. Nothing major out, just some routine stuff to keep her moving well. She turns 15 in February and I am trying to be proactive with her health.
Off to take a little nap. My head is feeling foggy.

I ruined a pair of earrings that were almost finished because I couldn't leave well enough alone. Will I ever learn?! ------------------- My guess is that it wasn't "well enough" in the first place. If you were satisfied with it how it was, you would have left it alone.
That's something I have to remind myself of when this happens. "Argh, why did I even try to do this?!" "Because you would never have been happy with it if you didn't."
Thank you, Matthew; you're right. Even when they were "fine" they were lacking something. Unfortunately that 'something' didn't turn out as I hoped. They could have been fine originally for someone else but not me. Oh well. Back to the drawing board.
Chrissi, I forgot to tell you how beautiful your piece is. That stone is a stunner!
Thanks Laura. :-) The stone is so pretty...it's going to be a hard one to part with. I love crazy lace. This is old stock too...from a local rock and mineral store...probably cut sometime back in the 80s.
Just woke up from a 45 minute nap. I was beat. Headed out to the shop now to work on some things. :-)
Chrissi - just scrolled back to find the link to this new piece everyone is admiring. Can't resist a beautiful stone and that one sure is beautiful. great depth and polish.
I looked at the picture of Millie. She sure is pretty. great throat and shoulder set. Is she smooth?
A work day. Skidder tire replaced but not after someone delivered a second set of keys to the box which houses the crane controls on this almost new custom made work truck. Key broke off, turns out the whole lock was frozen. It's a law.
Then a relay wire connection on the skidder broke apart, another two hours of diagnosing and fixing. That's a law too.
Still, managed to get in 9 large trees which is close to my winter's supply. More next weekend. Tired now, and it must be drink time.
