yeah the homemade one would be my second choice CG, but the vent is already installed in the room, just plugged for now and I have the spare kiln hood that was installed there and taken down last year still sitting in our garage. so re hanging and pluggin it in is all that it would take.
I think I even have an old squirrel cage blower stashed out at my bro's farm form the "good old days " when I had no spray booth. So both are options.
no, I didn't get picked. I got selected, then questioned. I was "chosen" for a medical malpractice case, against a local physician that is a friend of mine. and I also knew a lot of the witness lists on both sides (lots of doctor friends). and the plaintiff's atty is a guy my dh plays poker with and does consulting for. so yeah, I was disqualified. haha. very glad.
I had a aluminum overhead box built for it when we had our kilns inside downstairs, it's on a pulley weighted, and hangs over an area of about 3 ft diameter and the exhaust fan has 3 speeds.
I was hoping never to have that monstrosity indoors again when we got the new kilns , but,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,if it works and sucks the fluffies up.
My idea in having all the kilns and metal in the garage was to insulate and have a year round workspace. We are not there yet, that would take big bucks. so for winter it's the basement.
400 views on that bronze cuff. Tracked down the 2 shares, Wendy's and the American Craftsman - From Street to Gallery' FB site. Had to be some reason for the view count.
We wish to be a very good year for everyone! The first snowfall of the year finally arrived in Istanbul this morning.Yesterday I visited the Grand Bazaar and I went to the stove to melt scrap of silver. My motivation has increased the challenge of the first sales of the new year.
C.G. says And a question, maybe for Susan. I have a flickr mail from a newish member here asking to join 'Thousand Word Chatty Metalsmiths'. Not sure why me and not even sure if it's still extant. ----- What the heck is that? Doesn't even ring a bell.
I agree Sue, let those threads get buried. Only issue will be if some folks jump in and start playing. Those may be threads that won't die. Let's see what happens.
Someone vacuumed up some dust....a avi cuff sale from before Christmas is now cancelled. I did offer long ago. Actually pleased with that, tired of asking for sizing info.
Morning all. I had to show up for jury selection this year for the first time. At least it was county and not federal. I made it through to voir dire and was eliminated there. I said I couldn't vote the law over my own sense of decency and convict somebody of a crime if I thought the law was ridiculous and unfair. And at least with county you show up only for a day unless you are selected. Federal is an hour drive away and you show up daily for a week.
Susan, if you remember back about 6 months ago (?) I had stumbled across an old email (2010/11) and asked you about the Thousand Word flickr. You figured it out. And I've since forgotten again
I'll just contact them and let them know about the flickr 'new work' link here.
