It is different. For me it's using my thumb and fingers as a vise, and the force would keep opening up the crevasse.
But for some reason it hasn't happened much at all for maybe 25 years even though I've done pretty much the same level of work. Which oddly enough is just after I moved here and away from the stress. Big believer that getting rid of stress allows the body to do it's healing business better.
although after a day of sanding and grinding a raft of pots my fingers are always bleeding,I think it's that same pressure of using one hand to stabilize and the other to push and put force on things. Stress or no stress 50 mugs for a show almost always wrecks my hands.
Laura, I had a hurtful developing crack at corner of my thumb and hit it with Blistex medicated lipbalm (squeeze tube not chapstick) during the day and that along with bag balm and cotton gloves at night. Much better after 3 days and healed by a week. The Blistex had always worked for me to heal dry cracked lips overnight so gave it a shot on my thumb.
Tried to duplicate my recent copper and sterling earrings this evening and took much longer than first did. Discouraging.
evening all. congrats to susan. i'm definitely taking some dust, I need it. your reno looks great. I like aquaphor and eucerin for healing cracks. I finished the commission ring and started a new enameling project.
Thanks all. It was a good day at SToNZ. Just got home from a nice evening out with friends. Now dh is putting shelf paper in the new cabinets in the laundry room. Ha! How's that for Saturday night fun?!
Big snow forecast for tonight. My dad is freaking out. Ugh.
