Re: Jumping into June - Chat Thread

morning!

got my new eyeballs
http://nova-designs.blogspot.com/2011/06/new-set-of-eyes.html

weekend was good. Too quick as usual.
Ventured off to Brooklyn to check out the Brooklyn Renegade. It wasn't as impressive as I wanted it to be. The weather was kind of crap though so that might have been partly why it felt a little boring...

I've been planning my new studio space. I am so excited I think I'm gonna pass out. It's big enough for me to set up my large format printer and a big island workspace for that as well as proper space for my kiln and enamels!! I can't wait to move in. We're starting packing this week :o)

Re: Jumping into June - Chat Thread

Good morning.

3:30am, sky lightening, tiny bird nearby shouting 'get up, get up, time's a wastin'. Repeat. And repeat.

Can't weigh more than a few ounces, must have had an amp plugged in.

Birds always seem louder when you're half asleep. Or maybe they are really loud at that time of day.

Re: Jumping into June - Chat Thread

Can't complain about waking up to a dawn chorus of birdsong. just that this time of year daylight starts to arrive not long after 3am.

I expect your summer dawn is noticeably earlier than that.

Re: Jumping into June - Chat Thread

I use ear plugs right now. I'm not sure when they start actually, but I should remember to look at the clock next time the birds wake me in the middle of the night.

I haven't kept up with the light. It's way too light way too late, so we have dinner later and go to bed later because it just looks so early.

Re: Jumping into June - Chat Thread

Good morning. I think the noisiest birds get up the earliest. The blue jays...er ...Steller's Jays used to wake us up around here but they don't seem to be hanging around anymore. Robins and warblers woke me up today.

Tummy is almost better.
Had one of my pieces on a silent auction for my daughter's vaulting competion this weekend. It brought in $40.00. Sigh. At least it accounted for some of the cost of making it. There wasn't a lot of people there this year, the USA clubs were busy with another event. Maybe a better venue would have been the pub night. At least I got some exposure and a comliament.
It was this one:

Re: Jumping into June - Chat Thread

Also, I noticed through looking at one of my listings that I had been included in a treasury but the "activity" didn't notify me. I guess another glitch in etsy code.
I'm glad I was able to visit the treasury and thank her.
People may want to check through their listings...

Re: Jumping into June - Chat Thread

morning all. tory what you were originally asking for the piece wasn't even enough (IMHO). $40? someone got a steal. sorry.
it's a cool spring day here this morning. i'm going to try to go out and do a bit of planting nda weeding before i have to go to work. gardening weather doesn't get any better than this. still have some final cleanup and arranging to do out on the patio and deck with all the pots. i'll be totally done today :)
tess- like the new specs. good luck with the move- it's alot of work.

Re: Jumping into June - Chat Thread

Enjoy beitng "Queen of Pots" today, Sue.
Yes, somebody got a really good deal.
It's been mistake #3 in a series of error.
The whole display I created seems to have gone to the buyer too as I was foolish enough not to make post auction arrangements.

Knocks University is an expensive school but I'll not likely forget this months lessons.

haha. you'll be knocked around but good when they finally let you go.
hey, i was just thinking last night about your house project- have you started digging a hole yet? i also just realized that we are both celebrating our etsy anniversaries this week. we started on the same day, 1 yr apart if you remember. i think we've been chatting every day now for a year and a half. isn't that weird?

Happy Etsy anniversaries guys, lol, and thank-you so much. You've put a smile on my face for sure.
Off to convince another 4 people to not purchase herbicides today.
(Hey, it's a goal)

Re: Jumping into June - Chat Thread

Starting digging in a few weeks. The nephew with the 'serious hobby' excavator has been busy helping his brother excavate for an addition and then helping build it.

It's about $400 to haul it out here and back so it's best to do as much as possible in one go. Hopefully it will dry out a bit and not encourage the mosquitoes too much.

I didn't notice the timing. My opening date is a little misleading, had nothing listed for 2 1/2 months.

But, I'll have a drink on the day, and ponder how I could ever have found that much to natter about. Who would have guessed?

Re: Jumping into June - Chat Thread

i made some more foiled pieces this weekend. 2 rings (green and gold), 2 pendants (blue and silver), and 2 prs of earrings (red and purple). i've just got the patina and a bit of clean up to do. it took me 3 full days (all weekend) to make them. that's 8 bezels and fabbing the pieces with clean up, foiling, resin, and setting stones. i thought if i did a "batch" i could work faster. do you think this is just too much time for this? i guess i'm wondering if i'm still too slow. could others have whipped these out in 2 days? 1? i feel like the pokey one.
